4 trucks were parked on the hard shoulder of the on-ramp! We thought this meant we couldn't catch a ride here, but even with 4 trucks blocking the first part of the shoulder, pushing us back to the highway sign, this spot is great.

No ride to NL, perhaps unsurprisingly. There were enough Dutch number plates to give it a shot, we saw about 40, plus 3 German Ruhr number plates. Multiple Dutch cars did the thing where they only see you last moment, slow down a little bit, can't figure out the place to stop in time, and drive on. Lots of people honking and cheering us on from their windows. For NL, just take the 10 to the Borgerhout on-ramp.

Our driver went around the block to pick us up after seeing us last-moment. Lots of traffic, but drivers are already going kinda fast when they pass the gas station. There was also someone stopping at the gas station every 5 minutes, they couldn't take us unfortunately.

Lots of folks. Got offered a ride pretty quickly to Hasselt, which was halfway to the French Ardennes we were heading to. Still rejected it, gotta stay on that main highway. As always when here, we considered accepting a ride to Eindhoven Airport to luck into a ride to Belgium there. One day we’ll try it!

Weird start of the day, we were offered tons of rides but no one was going straight ahead to Brabant. Roermond, Utrecht, Rijkevoort, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and more. When we got another offer for Holland, I checked if A50 into A2 would make sense for our driver. Turns out, Brabant is only a 4 minute detour from this gas station to Utrecht, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, etc.

We didn't try this, but you probably have to head south from maastricht to go north. the south-facing highway spot has good reviews, from there you could head to the gas station near eijsden, walk over to the opposite gas station and hitchhike north
