(23M August) Lots of cars passing toward Egilsstaðir on a tuesday afternoon, took 15 minutes to be picked up by a trucker.

(23M August) Not great getting out of the Detrifoss parking. I was offered 2 rides further North though to other tourist destinations along the south-north road. I was trying to get back south. Was eventually offered a ride to Reykjahlíð.

(23M August) Bad spot being stuck at the geothermal area, it's chaotic and little space to stop. I managed to get a ride to Dettifoss though, I mostly just wanted to get out of here.

(23M August) On a Monday morning I stood here trting to go to the geothermal area 5 min east of here, took 2 minutes. On a Tuesday morning I tried to go past the geothermals and past the Dettifoss road North, it took 2 hours. In this time, I was offered: -2 rides to the lagoon -2 rides to the geothermal area -2 rides to Dettifoss -2 rides west even though I was hitching east lol -1 ride toward Stuðlagil canyon which I accepted. All rides offered by tourists.

(23M August) Barely stood here for 5 min on a saturday evening when an Icelandic national with her daughter took me to the goldfish lake and dropped me off at Húsavík campground (:

(23M August) Not the most space to pull over (going south) but after waiting for just 20 minutes on a saturday morning, a dutch tour guide took me all the way to Akureyri

(23M August) traffic low on a Friday afternoon. I got an offer toward Reykhólar, but finally took an offer to Búðardalur. Took 60 min which was fine and you have a camping space here as backup

(23M August) Apparently this is the main road to Reykjavik. Plenty of traffic, got picked up by a Belgian couple in 15 minutes. They were going to the ring road but I got out at Hólmavík.

(23M August) Although traffic was fairly light on a friday morning, I got a ride to Ísafjörður in 10 minutes.

(23M August) Got picked up here on a monday evening after just 20 minutes by a friendly Icelandic national going to Þingeyri. He stopped at some scenic spots for me and told of his near-death sheep experiences in the fjords. Plenty of place to be seen and stop here.

(23M August) Traffic low on a monday evening but got picked up by an elderly couple going to the lake near Flókalundur. They offered me a ride to þingeyri when they were done but I got a ride before that.

(23M August) Not a great spot for going north. I believe a wave of cars from the ferry should come every 5(?) hours, I didn't catch one. Stood here for about an hour on a monday evening before I decided to walk north BUT there is a great little automated fish vending machine / eating spot with ready-to-eat smoked char about 30 minutes walk North. I got picked up there.

(23M August) I stood just 14 minutes here on a Monday morning after sleeping at the campsite. A friendly Icelandic national took me all the way to Stykkishólmur. Enough space to be seen and pull over here.

(23M August) Although traffic was kindof light on a Sunday afternoon, I got picked up in 20 minutes by 2 local kids going to Stykkishólmur, but I got out at Grundarfjörður. There is enough space to pull over if there aren't many cars parked, and otherwise traffic is light enough to just stop on the road.

(23M August) There are many cars here checking out the vulcano crater. After standing here for just 10 minutes a got a ride from 2 German girls going North. We checked out some waterfalls and they dropped me off at Ólafsvík where they were going on a whale tour

(23M August) On a Sunday morning, the traffic going North here is very light, many more cars going South. I stood here for a bit more than an hour before I decided to walk north to the crater vulcano where I got picked up very quickly (2 hour walk though)

(23M August) It didn't take long to be picked up by people I met on the vulcano crater (they said they hadn't recognized me), the traffic was alright Plenty of space to be seen and pull over A friendly U.S. couple that took me sight seeing along the peninsula

Wanted a ride back to the main road, was lucky to be picked up by a Belgian guy I met on top of the vulcano crater. Traffic very low as its just people climbing the thing

Came here in August by bus from Reykjavik and stood with a lady hitchhiker who I met at the same spot. Took just 1 minute for a friendly Icelandic national to offer a ride all the way to Grundarfjörður, but I got out along the way to check out a vulcano crater

Stood here on a sunday morning in May (23M) with a sign saying "SALZB." Not a lot of cars coming into the gas station but in 25 min I still got picked up by a hungarian dude going all the way to Bregenz via Salzburg and München.

Stood here on a sunday morning in May (23M) with a sign saying "SALZB." traffic was light but in 7min a nice lady gave me a ride toward a gas station in Radstadt next to the main road toward Salzburg, which I think was a slightly better spot. Overall not a bad spot
