Direct lift to Graz with sign.

getting there is a pain in the ass but i think it’s worth it. many people going in the direction of Graz or Vienna. got a ride from a woman driving to vienna for work.

We had to give up on this spot. We wanted to go to Graz (we had a sign) .There were too many croatian cars and not croatian cars were either full or were going to the opposite direction. I don't know if we were there at a bad time (10:40 - 11:40) or if it is just a bad spot but the result was the same. After that we went on to the highway and hitchhiked on the side. A guy going to Germany took us after like 15 min.

Tried to catch a ride to Graz in the evening and had no luck, but the day after we caught a ride to Vienna in 30 mins.

Dont hitchhike here in the evening, no-one stops. In the morning got lift all the way to Graz

Good for Salzburg, possibly for Linz. Total shitty for Graz! Lot of cars with families... Better to go somewhere else.

Medium traffic, but good spot for Graz. We were lucky and got a ride to Kirchendorf right away. I would recommend standing with sign after the roundabout.

the car approached me saying if i needed help, i told him i needed to go to graz but the gas station on the highway works too. the spot is good because the red light is long and most cars are turning left to graz direction

This is THE spot to leave Vienna (mainly to the south). lot of cars n We got a ride within 30 minutes to Graz

Took me 20 min to get a ride to Graz. It's a chill spot, i waited just before the bridge.

Hour waiting in the evening, wildsleeping on the field, 1-2 hours waiting from 6 a.m., expensive gas station, paid toalletes. Lot of truck drivers, people doesnt stop, headed to Graz/Slo. (2 friendly boss:))

We had to wait really long because we only had a sign for Graz, finally someone took us a bit further on the highway

Better than Voralpenkreuz imo, but still mixed experience. Almost no austrian cars, mostly german tourists or balkans going home. More cars going north or towards Wien/SLK than direction Graz/SLO. People not super friendly, I agree better to ask truck drivers and people than waiting with a sign. (truck driver approached me with a ride to Graz after seeing me struggle for a while with my Graz sign)

Don‘t, lol. get the bus south and get to a gas station on ur highway. Graz is just baaaad.

I don’t recomment this gas station, 90% of cars are going back to Vienna. We wanted go to Graz but end up in Hungary after 2 hours

Honestly shocked that others say that this spot is shit for Budapest and good for Vienna — I had exactly the opposite experience hitchhiking to Austria! Three hours waiting with a sign for ‘Graz’ (I was on my way to Zagreb), and the only offer in that direction that I got was to a town just over the border. Yet three people stopped to ask if going to Budapest would help, and two more people stopped to apologize that they were going to Budapest! I had banked on people going to Vienna making the connection that Vienna is on the way to Graz, but as hour three closed I made a sign for Vienna, and it was STILL another hour. There is no shade at the on-ramp and it gets hot. The traffic is a steady trickle but honestly not that much. I would try another spot next time, no question. Lots of space in the surrounding area to camp unseen, though, if this spot does serve you. I walked here from the end of the tram line at night to cross the highway with less traffic and start early (not that the early start helped!), and was at least well rested for the frustration.

Asked around and got ride to Graz

This spot isn't really best because of the nearby highway, so you can only stop cars coming from the gas station. Still, it's probably the best spot you can choose in the area. We wanted to head down toward Vienna/Graz, but an older French couple stopped on their way to Salzburg.

Leaving Graz seems to be very difficult. All the spots on this road seem to be a gamble. A local hitchhiker told me he used to ask directly to the customers at the McDonald's nearby. This place (just after the bridge) has very little place for cars to stop, but I suppose it is the best compromise instead of the gas stations before. Mostly local traffic (Graz suburbs and Leoben licence plates).

At first sight this place look hopleless dirty and dodgy I thought I never gonna get a ride from this gas station so with little expectations I tried to get a ride from a night bus station that is next to the shell gastation... Worked like charm in 20 mins straight ride to Graz
