First, we tried a sign saying MUNICH, after two hours it started raining and still nothing. Then we tried a sign with LINZ, again two hours and nothing. Finally, we tried just VIENNA with a thumbs up—still nothing. In the end, we took a RegioJet bus to Vienna and from there we hitchhiked overnight to Munich.
For us, it was a very bad spot, but give it a try and see for yourself :)

One of the best places to hitchhike near Katowice. We planned to go in the direction of Ostrava in the further Budapest and we managed to catch the driver to Vienna. Overall, a great place to catch a foot in the direction of Wroclaw, Berlin, Vienna. It is worth going to the parking lot and asking people where they are going - a lot of individual drivers and trucks.

Good spot to go to Vienna
Got picked up by the third car, got taken close to Vienna.
It's in a shade, cars have nice spot to stop and people are going to the direction of Vienna. Feels comfortable.

2 people, we had sign Vienna and tried for 30 mins, than we switched to sign Reinthal and that took us 15 mins, it's nice spot tho and drivers have a bus stop to stop and they see you from a long distance

Good for people going to Vienna visible to people coming out of the gas station and traffic has enough time to see you and stop safely. Vary out of the way only ended up there because my last driver went out of his way to go past Sopron where he was.

Good for getting rides in Vienna/Bratislava direction space to stop and traffic not moving too fast. I stood a little before the bridge to be more visible and so there’s more space to stop. But under would be good for rain.

We were originaly trying to get to vienna or in the direction of germany but we met a guy going to italy who was willing to take us with him so we went for it.
Wouldn't recommend trying to go to vieanna from here. Many people seemed to go to Budapest from here

Many many cars passing be but thue are going really fast so u will need a bigger sign. We were trying to get to vienna but ended up getting a ride to the nearest gas station on the highway.

If you go towards Vienna its gonna work for you, direction to Czechia will take a lot of time. Be careful to dont stand in the highway part, police sent us a bit back.

Perfect spot for finding a ride. We just stood with signs right in front of the exit from the parking. Really good for Vienna/Bratislava/Győr direction. We got a very funny ride. The story is not shareable for safety and legal reasons, but it would make a good chapter in traveling book.

I was there for around 1-2h and refused some cars, which were going only short distance, got offers in both directions (München, Vienna)
there is a lot of traffic, maybe due to the working day and people driving home after work. there is place for the cars to stop but it is small and usually it is also a bit dangerous for cars to stop, probably some cars would like to stop, but won't do it because it is not absolutely safe
in the end I just went to the next gas station, 5 minutes away, could be worth trying to get the straight from city centre, the first petrol station to the east (Vienna) ist unfortunately closed, a 2 meters wall to climb, there is a door but is probably closed
