500 meters from metro terminus Roi Baudouin on Line 6. Directions Ghent, Mons, France, Charleroi... Cars drive slowly and can easily pullover. Sign saying gas station symbol ⛽. First car stopped in less than a minute, but was driving towards Ghent. Second car to Mons.

Got a ride to Ghent

I haven't hitchhiked here (yet), but on this newly built highway entrance, cars drive slowly and have enough space to pullover. Directions Eindhoven, Ruhr Area, Aachen, Liège, Brussels, Ghent...

Hitchhiked here many times towards Ghent, France or the seaside. Cars drive slowly and can easily pullover on the hard shoulders. Waited mostly 5 tot 10 minutes.

Pretty decent spot. Got a ride within a hour to Brussels with some dudes that work in Ghent but lives there. I recommend a big sign so people can see you since traffic here is fast. Just be patient and you’ll get a ride eventually.

First car asked for Ghent. As I have a friend there who picked up the phone in bed...perfect. Had been a long day's hitch from London on little sleep :-)

Not to much traffic at 6pm but still I quite quickly got ride towards service station before Ghent

Two guys heading to Belgium, had a sign saying Nürnberg / Frankfurt. Took a while, tried standing by the exit and asking people as they arrived. Eventually found a Belgien car driving to Ghent, the guy let us stay in his cousin's apartment overnight then took us the rest of the way the next morning.

It’s definitely worth asking around the ferry. We looked for small groups of people seeing if they’re heading to Belgium or even Lille. Eventually found a lift to Ghent!

A good, safe spot for Brugge or Ghent. Cars can see you clearly, and they can safely stop at the local bus stop. It is still kinda the city centre, so having a sign would be advised, but this road is still one of the main ways for cars to get out of the city; therefore, I think it is pretty good.

Lots of space to pull over, but traffic seemed local. I was trying to get onto the E34 to the Netherlands via Antwerp(ambitious, I know) and was offered a ride that took me further down the N9. You might be better off taking the E40 to Ghent/Antwerp if you wanna go to the Netherlands, but I didn't try that other option. Disregarding that though, it's decent.

Third car to pass by picked me up. Wanted to take me to Ghent, but I declined.

We hardly had to wait, a car to Rotterdam dropped us of in Ghent

Got on a ride to Bruges, but we wanted to go to Ghent, so thy dropped us of at Kortrijk

Busy gas station but everyone going just to Ghent. Almost no one going to Lille. Found a ride after 60 minutes but only because the driver took a big detour to help us out.

Quite a busy gas station for the size. Everyone is going into Belgium or France. Took us 5 minutes to find a car heading to Ghent.

Walkable from the nearby S-Bahn Station for fellow hitchhikers that prefer to start at a highway service station. Got a ride to the station before Aachen (first car I asked) right away, and easily made it to Ghent (my final destination) in Jan 23.

Walked down a bit the road with a sign Ghent, got a direct ride within 5 mins. Lots of parking space for car to pull by along the whole road to the south

Hitched here June 2019, direction Brugge. Got a direct ride offer to Ghent in 15 mins, and another ride to 25km towards Brugge in another 15 min. Lots of space for car to pull by
