Great spot for Plovdiv. Take bus 5 and then walk for 30 mins and it’s super easy, got picked up right away

We tried to hitchhike to Istanbul. Overall, the location seemed quite good, but we had significant difficulties – few drivers were heading to Istanbul; most were heading towards Burgas, and the Turks heading to Istanbul were reluctant to pick up additional passengers. Eventually, we managed to hitchhike to a gas station outside Plovdiv.

An excellent location under the highway to catch a ride from Plovdiv to Sofia. This is where the ramp to the highway begins, and vehicles have sufficient time and space to stop.

Got dropped here in the early morning and very quickly got taken by a truck driver to Plovdiv. Seems to be a good spot.

My ride from the day before had invited me to stay the night and took me to the other side of Sofia to a great spot towards Plovdiv early in the morning.

I first tried to take the road south of Sofia towards Plovdiv, but people to Plovdiv are actually using the highway north of Sofia. Not very good place, seems like only local people stop. I got invited to spend the night in the Apartment of a couple as it was getting late. In the morning the woman took me to the other side of Sofia to a much better spot towards Plovdiv.

Most traffic is going to Burgas. Got stuck here all sunday afternoon + monday morning. Cars are full, I asked to truck drivers but all declined until one drive me tl little before Svilengrad. For Turkey better to wait longer to get a direct ride from Sofia/Plovdiv.

Traffic is slowing down because of the "vignette" toll and enough place for card to trucks to stop for a good 500m. Off season better to accept rides only to Plovdiv/turkish border.

5 minutes Sign : Plovdiv A man gave me a ride on a gaz station on the A1. From there 5 others minutes to find a car to Plovdiv

Traffic from serbia toward plovdiv. Mandy Cars but they are really fast. Be careful

Good spot. Tankstation is big and you have different restaurants and shops. We got a ride in 5 minutes to Plovdiv.

Hittchiked here 5 times to Plovdiv, longest wait was 15 minutes. Even 2 groups (3 and 2 people) was very fast to get a car.

Just get out one car and sit to another one to plovdiv. 1 minute of waiting))

Get a lift to gas station on the road to plovdiv in 1 hour

Direction Svilengrad, easy enough to get a ride past Plovdiv (30 minutes or so), the same would apply for Burgas.

Easy place to get to Plovdiv, not so much to get to Burgas directly, so probably better to first get to a gas station on the road to Plovdiv (and on to Burgas) and from there talk to people to get further.

Good place to hitchhike towards Sofia and other tows to the West of Plovdiv. A lot of drivers prefer this exit when going to Sofia
