quickly got a short ride a few exits down, which I took because it was after the Atlanta exit on the I-75 north south split. nice people here

Got picked up after a really short wait with a sign saying "Zadar/Split", waited around 50m north the petrol station bc talking to people there hasnt worked out before. Got picked up by a lovely Croatian who took us all the way to split 1 male 1 female + luggage

Got a ride into the centre of Čačak from the village I was being hosted in, a bit past the bus stop. This spot or a bit further down near the NIS petrol station at the road split was recommended as a good place to hitch to Kraljevo/Kragujevac.

such a pretty rest area, almost didn't want to leave lol i'd say ~50% go in the direction marseille, 40% in the direction nimes, montpellier and 10% some places inbetween the upcoming highway-split found a ride in the morning to montpellier quite quickly also true: great spots to camp and spend the night not true anymore: dumpster accessability

Its ok spot. No shadow. A lof of space. Cars go pretty fast but still kinda ok. But noone is picking you up because just crotia. A guy finally picked me up because he saw me that i was standing when he was going to split and i was still there when he was comign back. Just in time because it was almost time for me to go for the last bus of the day.

As the comment above, I tried to drive to Split. Lots of cars passed us, and the drivers reacted very well, but no one stopped. Sadly, there were a lot of cars with Split and Croatian license plates. Maybe the border is the problem? If someone really wants to hitchhike, it might be easier to try a smaller town near the border. We ended up taking FlixBus for about €15.

One male 40+, no sign, one small and one big backpacks, a sunny day. On my way from Taichung to Taitung (over 350 kms). It's my second time using this spot. Please read the description in a previous review. This time I didn't have shade. But I waited again only 7 minutes. The driver was going to Hengchun, so he dropped me just before the road split to Taitung.

Get prepared to get into the car quickly, and if you go to Zadar or Split you should reject cars going towards Rijeka. Police is there, but didn’t bother us

Huge service station on the highway before the Limerick Cork Split, cars going everywhere we got a lift to Limerick almost immediately

Dropped north of Yachats, I desperately tried to hitchhike on this straight line where no one stopped, driving too fast. Little rain as well. Eventually, the local bus picked me up and dropped me in town. A passenger gave me some food and I started hitchhiking at my pick-up point. Got a beautiful ride from Tim, travelling in the area. (If you hitch this highway, really aim for tourists to make big distances.) Used to trail, he came back to pick me up as he had to hitchike a lot as well. Originally only going to the Redwoods, we spent 4 days together through the mentioned Forest, Central California, Nevada and Death Valley, where our paths split. Great experience.

Headed toward Fethiye, thumbed here for 5min before a Turkish couple heading to Ankara picked me up. They dropped me off at the D400/350 split-off. This is a good spot for getting a ride westward, as there's a huge shoulder, cars coming out of Kaş slow down at a stop sign, and those on D400 can see you from afar

Good spot. Big tolls so get your biggest sign ! ;) I went to Lyon and some people go up north (Paris/Oyonnax): you can still jump in there car and be dropped to a gas station before the roads split

spend the night here and started looking for rides in the morning when people showed up. lots of workers going to avignon and the surroundings, so i stopped on marguerittes. the idea was to catch traffic going northwards, so it was important to go furher from the split towards east

An old man took us. It's not a bad place as it's quite but the roads split and most cars don't go eastward along the coast. We ended up taking a short ride to Gotsu after passing many.

To be honest, from my experience, Szczuczyn is not a great place for a hitchhiker. Multiple roads go in the same direction from here, and cars split. I wanted to reach Suwałki, so it might have been better to take the highway rather than a local ride to Grajewo. If going from the south and able to do so, avoid Szczuczyn and Grajewo at all.

Decent spot for traffic to see you. The split in the road can give cars a spot to stop but might cause some traffic and angry honks. Best to have a sign as the highway splits north and east further up

Very average I would say. I’m trying to get to Istanbul and I can’t exactly recommend this way but also I’m not sure how good the old roads and town hopping is anymore. Hopefully some hitchhikers take the town hopping route and we can judge in 2025/2026. Got dropped off at the gas station before the road split towards istanbul

Non ride despite having a "Split" Sign (2ppl)

There is no good place for drivers to stop on this road. There is a barrier for like kilometers, so I used small crossroad and it worked good. I had sign Opuzen and I recommend it. It should be quite easy to get to main road in Opuzen and then you can go to Dubrovnik/Split
