Not so busy traffic, some cars with ZG licence plate, probably going to Zagreb. One guy offered us (two guys) a ride to Belgrad after 10 minutes. Got a ride in 25 minutes to Osiek, around 10 AM, Friday.

Quite a long wait but had a direct ride to Zagreb :) Just before the sign that says "no hh", place for cars to stop and not too fast (waited 1h30 with a sign "Zagreb", solo male backpacker)

I think it's a really good place to go to Zagreb, we got there pretty quickly from this spot.

Travelling from Ljubljana to Beograd with a friend, we wanted a ride to Zagreb to further hitch from there but actually ended up getting a ride all the way to Beograd! This gas station wasn’t too busy (3pm) but all the people were friendly and we quickly got the ride from 2 Italian guys after asking around for about 10 minutes

This place is probably your best chance to leave Zagreb in direction of Hungary. We waited for 1 hour, but eventually one guy stopped and took us to VaraΕΎdin. That's where you should aim with your sign - there is a gas station there to try from.
The stickers from hitchhikers are not there anymore. But it's funny because you're hitchiking directly from under the no autostop sign. Croatians are mostly picking up hitchhikers, but it all depends on the time of day and your direction.

This is definitely the best way to get to Zadar/Zagreb fast, but you have to wait a long time or be lucky. If you wait long enough, you can be sure you will get there, since there is basically nowhere else to go from here. We waited 2 hours but it paid off, cause we got a ride all the way to Zagreb.

Most cars are going to the highway from 2 directions, so it's the best chance to get out of Split. We got picked up after 1 hour and 30 minutes by a guy going to Sinj, so additionaly you can do a sign for Sinj and then asked to be left at Dugopolje, where you can hitchhike from the tolls. We had a sign to Zagreb, but people know what to do.

Once again, bus stops proved to be the most succesful. We were 2 people (boy+girl) and got a ride to Split in like 10 minutes. Sign to Split. If you're going to Zagreb, ask to be dropped at the Mall of Split, it's easy to hitchhike from there.

Only one car stopped and they took us to a complete nowhere village on the way to Zagreb, when we wanted to go down south through Jadranska Magistrala. It is probably a good place if you want to go to Zagreb, but if you prefer the old road, it is best to take a bus out of the center and hitch hike from there.

Although a couple of police cars passed, they didn't care. Got a ride to Zagreb after an hour and a half, there is plenty of space for the cars to stop. Croatia could work on the hitchhiking culture, it's a bit of a struggle sometimes:)

Good spot, there were many people on holidays driving to Split or coming from the coast driving towards Zagreb. Mc Donald's and gas station is seperated in the two parts to the directions, cars can't cross that line, people can, so you immediately know who drives in which direction. Sunday noon there weren't many people towards Rejika, though after some hours a business man took us directly to Rejika. (he stopped the car in the middle of the highway in Rejika and told us to leave the car to get to a bus station from there.. *wtf*!?)

This rest area is open again! Cross the golf course and the river then walk towards the station and you’ll find a hole in the fence to get to the station. Very good spot, stood with a sign and got a ride to Zagreb within 40 minutes. Two other hitchhikers got there shortly after me.

February 15, 2023. It was an okay spot, but it has less traffic than the new border crossing point. We got a ride to Zagreb.

Not the best spot but it worked. Make a sign because cars can go to Zagreb/Trieste/Slovenia.
I get a ride to Pula with a sign

From the center of Zagreb, take the 111 and stop at mercatone then walk to the gaz station.
We were 3 peoples looking to go to Split, we wait around 40min before we found a car. You have to ask people directly to see where are they going. There was also toilets πŸ‘Œ
