direction Tallinn and Tartu. If the driver is going in a different direction than you, ask to be dropped of in Johvi, cause thats where the two main roads collide. Not a lot of space to stop but a lot of traffic.rating: 4/5, ride: 53 km ←

Okay bus stop towards Tsirguliina or Tartu-Valga highway, cars come from around the corner tho and traffic density is low, wait times of 10-40 minutes expectedrating: 3/5

Best spot for going out of Viljandi towards Tartu, cars come slow from turn, just be between the roundabout and Valuste road turn since if you go too up, you'll start bothering cars turning. Wait time of 5-20 minutes expected.rating: 5/5

Since Siimusti turn doesn't really work nor inside Jõgeva I have started to use this inbetween area, which usually works within 30 minutes if headed to Tartu directionrating: 4/5

Got near here with a bus from the city centre (it’s also possible to take it for free, if you dare). The first car I approached was an Estonian number plated car, but they were heading to Tartu, if I didn’t have a plan to visit my grandma first, I would’ve went with them, but I needed to go towards Ikla. So I fortunately found a woman driving to Ādaži.rating: 5/5, wait: 10 min 💬, ride: 16 km ↑

More local traffic, but some people head from Rapla to Tartu, so I was counting on that (as I personally like to take this route with my car to Tartu). Walked from the centre of Rapla to here. A couple stopped and took me from here to all the way to Tartu with a quick stop in a graveyard in the middle of Estonia where they planned on stopping and I had no problem with that as I just wanted to be home by the evening.rating: 5/5, wait: 20 min 👍, ride: 158 km ↘

You can easily get here from Tartu city centre with a bus (also for free as I do, if you dare). A lot of people drive in the evening from Tartu towards Mustvee or even Jõhvi, so I’ve hitched a ride from here to my friend’s place several times and had no problems getting a ride even straight to the place I wanted.rating: 5/5, wait: 10 min 👍, ride: 51 km ↗

This is so far my best, fastest and coolest experience in Estonia! So an undercover/secret service agent who was on a mission to drive towards Ida-Viru, took me, even though he was in a hurry, as they had just captured some criminals that needed to be interrogated there. He had done hitchhiking himself when he was younger and that’s why he had stopped. So he told me that he’d get me to Tartu very fast and that he will speed and he cannot be fined (going waaaay over the speed limit lol) as it’s a work reason, though he was in a normal civilian car (we got to Tartu in less than 45 min instead of an hour). I won’t and can’t get into details but he told me lots about his previous work in the police, chasing criminals, those high-speed chases, loopholes in the law etc. He obviously wasn’t allowed to give me any information on his current job though I tried my best to feed my curiosity. I really felt like I was in an action movie, so I truly loved this experience in my home country with this lovely man working for the safety of our nation! 😎rating: 5/5, wait: 5 min 👍, ride: 79 km →

A bus stop where a judo coach stopped and took me across to Viljandi and even took me a bit further to a bus stop so I’d have a good chance to get from there straight to Tartu.rating: 5/5, wait: 15 min 👍, ride: 56 km ↗

Towards Tartu, even though it's 50km/h and it has lights it may take quite some time to get a car, most cars are locals since more of Ahja people go towards Räpina or Põlva, wait time of 20-50 minutes, bus stop isnt that big, but decent enough for a car to stop more convenientlyrating: 3/5

Towards Tartu, not a lot of traffic around here, especially after dark, mediocre lighting, there's cars coming from Mooste, but half of them go the other direction or towards Põlva, wait time of 10-30 minutesrating: 4/5

Pretty nice spot going north, cars take this route to Tartu sometimes as an alternative to the Viljandi one so decent amount of long distance cars, as well as locals, speeds here still 50km/h, wait time of 10-20 minutesrating: 5/5
