We ( Boy & Gril ) waited with another hitchhiker couple! They got a ride to the next gas station after 40mins. We were so lucky to find an elderly couple who speak english, that could take us all the way to Bordeaux :DWe definitely had to wait so long because not many pass by early in the morning! 2/3pm is the best time here.
Also it may be better to get a ride before the gas station in france as the gas prices are higher - still some people go to eat and do a stop here.
Just go around as ask 😁🌱

We got here late at night, spent the night in a tent at the end of the trucker station (not really a recommendation in november as it was fucking cold) next morning we arrived back at the station at 8:30. Then we waited for quite a while. Although there were a lot of cars most went to Bordeaux and we were looking for a ride to paris. Eventually we got a ride to the other side of Bordeaux with a nice French lady. Kuddos to her for taking to big Dutch guys in her car alone.rating: 3/5, wait: 60 min 💬+🪧

Apparently not the best spot to go to Bordeaux. In the morning sun was behind us and we think most people were going to Biarritz. After a while a cool girl with a pink fur steering wheel cover stopped and took us a little further. We ended up getting lucky at that next spot!rating: 2/5, wait: 35 min 🪧, ride: 2 km ↖

While there is (decent) room for cars to stop, terrible spot to go towards Bordeaux or Bayonne. While it clearly allowed to go toward these cities, no one was actually using this exit to go there so there was very little traffic for us to get a lift. Little did we know that we would probably have been luckier on the previous exit closer to Tonnay (33). Don't get dropped that far and prefer highway entrances closer to Tonnay/Rochefort ;)rating: 1/5, wait: 180 min 🪧

Stood 2 minutes at the roundabout and got a direct ride to Bordeaux. Note that a train ticket from San Sebastian to Hendaya costs less than 3€, and then you can walk here. It's better to hitchhike already from Francerating: 5/5, wait: 2 min

This place worked for me both times I tried to exit Bordeaux. Not that much space to stop, but there's isn't much traffic and since it's after the roundabout cars are not that fast, and they can see you from afar and stop for you. Most likely all cars entering here will at least pass by the gas station just ahead to get further rides to Spain, so you can accept a ride at least until thererating: 4/5, wait: 30 min

Sign said "A89, ouest. Brive-La-Gaillard / Bordeaux".Was going to Brive.
Started out by standing at the parking lot after (north of) the toll. After 45 minutes it didn't work and it was getting late, I when to the platforms between the toll booths. Right on the platforms between the lanes. Seems sketchy but it's okay. Got a ride there after additional 30 minutes going all the way to Brive.

Waited with a friend very just before the péage / highway entrance. Many people were going to Tarbes, Toulouse or even Biarritz but none to Bordeaux because the A65 is way too expansive. 2 other hitchikers duo struggled even longer than us.rating: 1/5, wait: 150 min 👍, ride: 202 km ↑

Towards Bordeaux.In August, with sign.
Not a good spot I think. A lot of families that don’t take strangers, best to try clermont-ferrand.
Good luck :)

Towards Bordeaux. With sign. Waited just before the maut/tax station.
Waited here at 18:00, got a lucky ride. A local told me it’s a good spot towards Bordeaux, probably even less waiting during midday.
Good luck :)

To Bordeaux.A lot of place to stop for cars.
Best spot by far to skip Lyon. Got taken to a highway entrance instantly.
Sign is a good idea. I did not have one.
Good luck

Good spot near the traffic light to go to Bordeaux. Most people don't go very far, but still take the branch to the fast lane. It can take you a long way.BTW Route taken on a vacation weekend.

I waited there 5min on thursday and friday evening (6pm), I had a sign for the toll station (Péage St Arnoult) and got a lift for Limours-Janvry gas station. From there you can get everywhere West easily (Bordeaux, Le Mans, Rennes, Nantes etc). Everyone leaving Paris for west is going through this road.rating: 5/5, wait: 5 min 🪧, ride: 16 km ↙

I used this spot 5 times at least. Best place to reach from Nantes. Often got a ride straight to Bordeaux with a BDX or BORDEAUX sign.rating: 5/5, wait: 30 min 🪧, ride: 317 km ↓

Was dropped of at the other toll spot (near D28 by soorts hossegor) so had to go back to this one. That was a bit tricky as the walking roads to the place are fenced (climb). Once there though I got a ride to Bordeaux quickly. She even offered to drive me to nantes.rating: 5/5, wait: 20 min 🪧, ride: 178 km ↗
