We waited for approx 40 min, about 3 cars stopped during that time but went to other directions (we asked for Caen or Mont Saint Michel), then a super nice lady stopped for us and took us all the way to Mont Saint Michel. There’s shade and tables outside plus free toilets so overall good spot, but the food etc is really expensive there. We asked around and then stood at the exist without a sign. The traffic was pretty solid even between 4-5pm which is pretty good i guess?

ne pas aller sur cet aire si vous vous allez au mont saint michel ce n’est pas directement sur le chemin même si l’aire porte ce nom la (la plupart vont vers caen). si bloqué je conseil de trouver des gens pour rejoindre la départementale vers le mont saint michel (plus direct)

très bon spot pour aller à caen/le mans, se placer bien avant le rond point (que les voitures puissent s’arrêter sur la droite). je recommande de fsire de grand geste de loin pour être vu et avoir une grande pancarte est 100% recommandé ici
(ps: le spot est accessible avec le bus t4 depuis le centre)

Tried sitting here as 2 guys with a sign for Caen and got a ride directly to the city center within 15 minutes.

The spots from Rennes to Caen are not nice cause it goes directly from the ring to the highway
But it works, for me it is the best place, the last entry before it splits, and the highway is free

Nobody's going to Caen
There are a lot of cars and a lot of place to park but the people driving are unfriendly, i waited 2 hours, people don't say hello and don't smile, there are more chances that they make you a fuck 🖕, you should never go to Rouen it's one of the worst place to hitchhack in France

Cars going to Caen, Rennes, Nantes but quite fast because either they come out from a short underpass or they speed out of a roundabout. There is some space for them to stop, but since the ones coming out of the underpass would have to cross the other cars I find it a bit risky for them. I got taken by a hitchhiker after 30 minutes wait and hilding a sign to Rennes, because he said it's an unconvenient spot and he was going to Nantes.

Good spot even though it is not a gas station. There is a little snack house so when I was left her around noon, there was a lot of cars. I asked the first guy i encountered
and he offered me a ride to Caen.

Stood with a sign for caen/rouen at the exit and it worked well! I tried walking around and asking but the place seemed to big and it was hard finding a central point to catch people. After 10 min with the sign i got a ride to the big gasstation after Caen

New favorite spot to leave Paris going to anywhere around Rouen, Caen, Mont Saint-Michel, Le Havre, etc... Red light just before the highway entrance with cars having to get passed Morainvilliers gas station on the highway. I tried twice and always got taken on the first try to the gas station. From here just follow gas stations on the highway on your path. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes usually making a stop at Bosgouet gas station right after Rouen to reach further in Normandie or even Saint Malo.
Really easy to reach by foot, take the train to Poissy then bus 12 and walk.
