Good spot to leave Brussels and go to Paris/Lille. Often people that stop to a gaz station near Brussels.

Good place for getting out of Lille, cars have room to stop and they usually go slow thanks to the traffic lights. We found somebody to take us to Paris straight away, however we were very lucky, they said people of Lille aren’t really used to hitchhikers (? I dont know if thats true).

Almost completely deserted. NO lorries will stop in the Calais radius of 150 km apart from out of cigarette desperation. Arrived around 6:30pm and realised I messed up (though there's almost no possibilities coming from Lille...). Should have gone with the original Luxembourg idea for getting across to UK, or the reliable Jabbeke (though same situation with lorries). Try to avoid stopping here. Was saved by a guy who wanted to see the sea and didn't read the news. A group of guys were trying to get into people's vans/cars. Not the best hitch friendly environment.

Only French speakers, I approached the vehicle, said I go to la prochaine autostop but we drove to Lille

I think it might be the best spot to get out of Lille towards Dunkerque/Calais. There's an obscene amount of going onto the highway, there's a pedestrian crossing, so a perfect place to stop and it's very easy to get to by train (just ask someone to let you through with their ticket, if they say no, ask someone else. They're very nice in Lille). I stood with a "CALAIS" sign and got picked up by someone going to Dunkerque, but they liked me so much that they changed their mind and took me all the way to Calais beach. So I mean it that the people are nice in Lille. Highly recommend this spot too.

Seems like the perfect spot, has quite some traffic, but absolutely no one seemed to go to Lille, which genuinely baffled me. I think I just had bad luck maybe. Inside the gas station its very nice though, it was recently re-built as I was told and there's a fair amount of outlets and seating, as well as food and toilets etc. etc.

Had a Bruge sign but a guy heading to Lille picked me up saying it would be easier to get to Calais that way.

Good spot for going South from Lille. It was slowish traffic but a Dutch couple picked us up and took us to Vierzon. Not to bad to get from Lille, about an hour

Was heading towards Belgium and didn't want to enter Paris. Had a pannel "Vers Bruxelles" which was quite ambitious but in the end it worked, a ddrievr took me all the way until Lille, avoiding crossing Paris with public transportation under the heatwave. I put myself at the end of the pétrole station and waited. Good traffic on the station

A lot of space to park. Problem : it was a Sunday morning around 8, might have been too early. I finally had a car to Liffré. Was trying to go to Aire du Mont St Michel and then Lille. I did it, but getting out of the city is hard.

Great spot. Just ask to the people, some are going west and some east, even some of them north Normandy to Granville. I waited for 45mn and then found two cars at the same time for Lille. I had a sign Rouen.

Good spot to go to the north, (Riom, Paris, Lille...). You can Ask to stop at the toll off Riom. To reach there, by tramway till stop "croix de Neyrat". Bon spot pour aller vers le nord. Tu peux demander à te faire poser au Péage de Riom. Pour arriver à ce spot, prendre le tram jusqu'à l'arrêt "Croix de Neyrat".

we 3 were trying to get to Calais/Dover. a very nice person from Lille took us to this station from the A1. it was much better than the A1 as all traffic was going the right direction. we met lots of people who were going to England via the ferry. eventually, we were offered a lift onwards to Aire de St Hilaire Cottes, the last fuel stop before the Calais ferry, so we took it.

it's ok. we were trying to go to Calais, but most people were not taking the A26. Most were going to Lille, or Netherlands, or Germany, etc. good pizza.

this seems the best way out of Paris without standing on the side of the road. We were 3 people, so we wanted somewhere good. as others say, you can access it via a bus. walk to the end of the wall and through some bushes and voìla. we got a lift to Aire de Ressons, an hour or so north, towards Lille. there were lots of people here.

we were dropped off here from Lille, on the way to Paris. It seemed only little traffic was headed onwards to Paris, and those that were did not have space for the three of us. You might find a lift, but it seemed impossible to us (3 ppl), so we walked to the toll booth nearby to check it out. (we also did not like that and hiked 2h30 to the next services)

moved here after waiting closer to the Ferry Port roundabout for a bit. Got a lift after an hour or so with someone. They'd bought the wrong ticket and had no leftover money so we paid for some of the new car ticket. c'est la vie. While on the ferry we asked for lifts to Paris, but nobody was going (nor did it seem like anyone else but our lift would have picked us up from the street - maybe lucky!), so we went to Lille to stay the night. Successfully asked someone on the street to stay at their place.

It’s definitely worth asking around the ferry. We looked for small groups of people seeing if they’re heading to Belgium or even Lille. Eventually found a lift to Ghent!
