Perfect spot going out from Lyon to the South. I have the chance to go to the toilet take a coffee and I stay just in the gasoline area in the entrance to the parking area with my sign going to Marseille. There a Big car pick me up. the gay was super nice, was a slow ride but I could arrive to my next spot just 30 minutes from Marseille in the highway. I think was the perfect spot to find people going to the south.

A really good spot, I took public transport from Genève to the border in Ravières; from there I walked like 15 minutes or less (trust in google maps, the route will take to some fields but you will arrive in the border zone, next to some toilets and parking area). I stand next to the exchange store, is perfect because the cars pass by in low velocity and they can see you really good. A sing always helps to save time and make the right people stop. There, a car took me directly to Lyon and the driver, Thoma, was super nice he leave me in the next good spot in the highway to continue my journey to Marseille

I really love this spot, hitchhiked here several times already and it never disappointed me. I wish we had the same kind of spots on the West side of Lyon to go far West ! Well, this time I had a big sign "Grenoble" and it worked well. I advise you to write as big as you can (big cardboards are your friends) so that the cars can read it from far away. I also managed to go to the Maurienne Valley from this place, or to a petrol station on the way to Grenoble, this is great too.

Was heading to exit of gas station and a guy pulled up to ask where I was going and took me directly to Lyon

We were 2 guys on a sunday lunch. There was a lot of cars, we just stood in the shade with a sign Lyon

Sign in hand, many drivers even at 8AM on a saturday. 5 minutes later I am off to Lyon:)

Great spot if you want to go to Lyon

Waited for 5 minutes, and a car what smelled soooo goood came and picked us up. Good in the direction of Lyon.

We were trying to go to Marseille, or Lyon. Only two cars stopped in one hour on a busy day, but then a cute girl took us to Chalon-sur-Saône:)

It was difficult finding someone going to Lyon. I started waiting at 7:30AM.

En passant par la zone industrielle, il y a un petit passage au nord de la station à travers un grillage pour accéder à l'aire d autoroute. C'est le trajet le plus pratique mais un peu plus long. On a bien galerer malgré un grand nombre de voitures, on était 2 et c'était un week-end de vacances. Beaucoup de voitures étaient pleines d'affaires. Le spot est cool pour sortir de Lyon, on a pris le train puis on a marché pour y accéder

I stood there and got two offers for Lyon. It was on the last week-end of August so there was a huge amount of traffic (people coming back from vacations with school starting two days after). I think that it is quite good to have a sign there.

As a solo woman, a two hours waiting time is really bad. I made a mistake while reading the map and hitchhiked there to go to Clermont-Ferrand / Lyon. There were many cars going to Bordeaux but almost none was going North. I think it is not worth taking the motorway to go to Clermont-Ferrand when starting there. This is why the cars do not use the motorway there (too expensive) and why I waited so long. I was lucky to have old friends going in the direction of Paris on that day, otherwise I think I might have stayed 4 hours there. It might be a good spot for Bordeaux / Spain. Please comment if this works.

One of the first cars took is to Lyon

Heading towards Lyon. Great spot with lots of space and traffic. Turns out the person who picked me up saw me at the roundabout 20km back with the sign for Lyon but someone already picked me up so when he saw me here he immediately stopped!

At the roundabout heading towards Lyon with a sign. Lots of traffic but no one really stopping. I guess mostly local traffic in the area. Got a ride with someone about 20km further. I had better luck there.

terrible for us. we only waited because one bus driver told us there will be another bus in few hours going to marseille and he might take us. as you might guess, there was no bus. tried to get to dijon / lyon btw
