Had really bad luck traveling to the South in March from here, everybody was going to the Alps, but no matter in which direction the cars ate full, so I took a bus from Lyon to get weiter.

Good spot, went to lyon, almost got there with my ride.

Glad to see other comments replicate my experience. The truck driver who dropped us off here said there were going to be a lot of spanish trucks that could take us directly to Spain. We had our hopes up in the beginning, but we slowly lost hope... Basically, this is a good spot to go to Geneve. After some hours, we were just trying to go past Lyon into the A6 or A7 highway. Took a long time, but in the end we found a truck driver from Spain who, after a little bit of conversation, became willing to take both of us (a couple) all the way across the border. Lucky! I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

Good spot. Big tolls so get your biggest sign ! ;) I went to Lyon and some people go up north (Paris/Oyonnax): you can still jump in there car and be dropped to a gas station before the roads split

Not a lot of place to stop but best spot to leave Sallachances toward Lyon. Many people will go to Geneva, i recommend to stop at a gas station or a toll on the way

Excellent spot pour aller vers le sud. Aire très accessible en rer D depuis Paris. Particulièrement intéressant pour la Bourgogne et Lyon

in the early morning it's mostly workers going to the nearby places, also to orange, however i had to remain on the highway and was waiting for a ride that could drop me on a rest area. eventually i got a lift to lyon and on the way there the trucker told me he'd be going as far as germany. i ended up spending the entire shift with him :) obrigado, marcelo

Ok to go to Lyon

Most cars going to Lyon center, but still found one to take me north. I was going to Strasbourg, my ride was short but still helped me to go closer :) Also it's a nice spot with place for cars to stop and a good visibility.

I was on the side in the grass, between the parking and the road, there is place for cars to stop and it's safe. Lots of cars but I waited 1 hour until a nice person stopped, maybe because it was early and people were going to work and were late ? My ride took me to the huge peage before Lyon (St Quentin-Fallavier), where it was a bit dangerous because I had to go inside the peage. So maybe try to go further than Lyon to avoid this ! Also this spot leads to 2 different directions, Lyon and Valence, so it's better with a sign I guess.

Traveling alone. Tried both sign and thumb+sign. Came all the way here from Lyon center. It was NOT worth it. Tons of traffic, but very few cars going towards Geneva (or they simply did not want to take me) Early in the morning it probably works better because many people work near Geneva and live in Lyon

close to highway leaving lyon in all directions. Better to stay before the stoplight where many cars stop, otherwise cars go too fast and can't stop.

Hard spot to go north direction Valence/Lyon. Should be quite easy to go to Nimes or direction Marsaille. I couldn't manage for my life to get anyone who was going past Nimes in my direction. Christmas days, lots of full cars and pouring rain. I gave up and got a ride into the city of Montpellier (which was easy).

ok spot, direction Lyon, fortunately after some hours a czech (same as us) with a tow truck took us all the way to Montpellier with a night stop under Lyon for sleep, we met another group of hitchhikers, but we were already full. we had a beer that evening, continued next morning, good guy (shoutout to Petr from morava, but you should have been little more talkative)

direccion Lyon (maybe too ambitious), little crazy, but kind, arab guy moved us near Besancon, still full of expectations

Talk to a few people, was very busy in the afternoon around 2pm. Got a ride directly to Lyon

After a night in the corn field, i found a truck driver early morning to lyon in 10 minutes. Ask around !

Lots of cars, especially in summer. Can go to Marseille, Aix en Provence, Nice and also towards Lyon. The number of people can make it a bit long to find the good car asking around. I usually just wait at the exit of the shop.

Good service starion, lots of traffic. Not many cars go past lyon and to the south. Eventually some locals took me to the next peage from where i had better luck
