Got a direct ride to Paris a lot of people going up north to Belgium and Netherlands

good spot, ask around at the petrol station. difficult if you are going south west as I was, most people going to Paris

Great spot, a lot of people stops. I was even offered ride to Paris but that wasn't on my way so I declined it. At first i stood at the place where road from petrol station and truck parking comes together but then police came and told me to move from there because that's apparently part of a highway. Then I moved little bit closer to the petrol station and got ride in my direction almost instantly

really good Spot to reach Rouen, Caen and Le Havre from Paris (take the RER A to Poissy or Saint-Germain-en-Laye then the bus)

On the right side of the roll, lots of people going to Paris, Avignon Left side is mainly Marseille and Aix

We started catching at péage but got kicked out from there, and the worker told us to go a bit further, which was in fact better for us, got a ride directly to Paris. And it was 9:30 so almost dark outside

We were heading to Rouen/Paris, local took us to Criquetot

Most of the cars are heading to Paris, but we found a ride to the next gas station closer to Rouen

Easy to access from Paris Got dropped off at a gas station near Auxerre then continued to Lyon 2males with 2 big bags

Single male, no french. I came here from Paris, with Rer D train and 4307bus and a little bit of walk, around 16.45. The gas station still have a back entrance, a little hole in the fence where you can easily fit. Just becareful when passing the road as there is no light or pedestrian pass. I asked people around with a sign "Lyon Dir. A6". 3rd person I asked, was kind enough to got me into his car. He was Paul, the "Lazy Guru" :) He drove me to the gas station just north of Lyon, he was such a nice guy. We chatted all the way, around 4 hours. The gas station itself looked pretty empty at that time of the day. There is not a lot of traffic but most of the people going to Lyon direction so probably a good spot to get a ride. I was lucky this time. Good luck out there stalker!

Single male, no French, big laugh but started to disappear after 5 hours. I arrived this place at 14.00. FIRST DAY, I waited 4 hours until I decided to set my tent. I tried everything, sign with "Lyon, Sud de Paris, Paris", thumb, askimg around and nothing. Plenty of cars, actually ton of them but no one was taking me. As you get closer to Paris you see that "Parisian" nonwelcoming attitude. I set my tent at the north western end of the Aire, next to where truck restpoints were. Nobody bothered me. Asked Mcdonals for cardboards and they gave me some. Chill place as I think they are kind of used to hitchhikers. And second day, I started early and tried to catch early birds. After 1 hour with sign of Lyon I got back to Paris. First I wanted to avoid Paris and hoping to find a long distance ride who was also gonna skip the city. But as the suffering progressed, I understood that I dont have the luxury to make a wish. After 2 hours, two hitchhiker girls came next to me. we chatted a little bit, I told them I was waiting here for 8 hours now and told them they have more chance then me, they found a ride 5 minutes later. They asked people. After few more hours bees started to attack me so I changed my position. this cursed land doesnt wanted me in their premises. When I came back I saw a couple who was doing the thumbs up in my old spot. Talked with them! They were cool and I stood a little front of them for an hour. I didnt wanted to spent another day in this gas station so I gave up to hitch to the closest bus stop and move to Paris. Right before I leave the gas station, this crazy french chick Illen stopped in front of me with a handbrake! She asked me where, and I said anywhere! She took me to a train station in Paris, Pierrefitte Stains. Then I took the D train to south from there. It is lovely how universe giving you small surprises in these frustrating moments :D So total 9 hours of waiting time. A lot of cars, but they are not picking. A hard spot for a single male woth no french. Good luck out there stalker!

Single male with a huge smile. It had a lot of traffic on the morning. I waited at the very end of the station to be able to see all the cars exiting. Luckily Naim took me to the north of Paris. I was holding a cardboard " A1 Paris"

Got a ride directly to Paris, used a sign, to pick me up, guy had to make a turn around, cars go pretty fast so I think it’s not the best spot

Well I say it again, this is a good spot. Many trafics so I recommend a big sign with thick letters. Also, I believe it's better to be in between 2 lanes. But be careful while crossing. I tried it to Bordeaux, Lyon, Paris and Millau and it worked all the time with in 90minutes

Well I understand that this spot had mixed review. People I asked went mainly direction Paris (holiday time) and the station was super busy. So I had to wait 90min to get q ride direction clermont ferrand

Super good spot for Paris / Orléans. Three cars stopped in the first 5 minutes. People here are driving slow and it’s easy for them to stop just after you.

Very crowded service area, the first after Paris. Asking around or holding your thumb up, both work very well there.
