on avait un panneau Strasbourg, c'était les facile que de parler à tout le monde dans le parking parce que on est proche de la frontière, beaucoup de gens parlent hollandais et allemand. // we had a sign to Strasbourg, it was easier than talking to people in the parking lot because we're close to the border and didn't know if the people spoke french, dutch or german before talking to themrating: 4/5, wait: 5 min 🪧, ride: 108 km ↗

You have to walk here along the Avenue de Champagne from Rue de Louvois, then just stand next to the "no pedestrians" sign, there is enough space for cars to pull over and pick you up.We waited here as 2 guys with a sign for Metz and got a ride from a guy going to Strasbourg who initially said he could drop us off at the Aire near Metz but ultimately decided to drop us off near the city center.

Low traffic in early morning, got a lucky ride to Austria.I've seen mostly local plates and several german ones, I've been told that people going to Strasbourg from Metz prefer to take the free motorway through Nancy.

I waited so long because we were 4 Autostopper. Really good spot for going in a lot of directions. You can ask for Paris/ Strasbourg/Nancy and you'll find somebody.Good resources in Gas station. It has Toilet, Power outlet and big entrance for many people.

Reached this station at midnight on a Friday to continue towards Germany. Probably not the best idea but we were stuck here all throughout the night (it was horrible). Lots of trucks but very few cars. Even in the morning we couldn't find anyone. We ended up getting on the other side of the highway (there's a small underground passage) and hitchhike back to "Aire de Longeville" and getting a ride to Strasbourg. Best decision everrating: 1/5, ride: 30 km ←

Unsuccessful. It might not be a good spot to get a ride to the South. I did not find any to StrasbourgBut there are many cars and good space for a car to stop for you, which is a bus station. Cars come from a side road as well.

Very strange place indeed when trying to go south. Took me around 4 frustrating hours in 40°C to get away from here. I tried asking at the gas station, asking the truck drivers and thumbing at the exit. The last one mentioned worked in the end.I think the reason why this is such a strange place, apart from the fact that the gas station serves both directions, is that this highway is not the most used one when going south. Notice that when you put into the GPS a route let's say from Strasbourg to Lyon, it prefers the highway A6, that runs parallel on the west to this one. However, at the exit from A36 close to Dole it is signed that this highway leads to Lyon. Which I believe makes all the drivers that don't use GPS take this highway. Which was in the end my experience. I encountered lots of older local drivers unwilling to take hitchhikers, or families that were fully packed.

Got very lucky at this spot. Didn’t even start raising my thumb, I was checking out the area and the speed of the cars first, and a man who was filling up his car with some gas saw with my backpack and directly asked me where I was going. I was going to Strasbourg and he left me in Haguenau, which is near. Looks like the people who are filling up gas are going into further directions, so it’s important to catch their attention and even go ask them directly.rating: 5/5, wait: 5 min 👍, ride: 114 km ↙
