I hitchhiked there in the morning, there wasnt a lot of traffic, I guess its better to get onto the bigger gas station further on the highway, but it is easy to get there from Frankfurt (you have to jump over the fence tho) and there are some cars going to Berlin/Polandrating: 4/5, wait: 30 min, ride: 668 km ↗

One of the best places to hitchhike near Katowice. We planned to go in the direction of Ostrava in the further Budapest and we managed to catch the driver to Vienna. Overall, a great place to catch a foot in the direction of Wroclaw, Berlin, Vienna. It is worth going to the parking lot and asking people where they are going - a lot of individual drivers and trucks.rating: 5/5, wait: 30 min 💬, ride: 345 km ↙

Solo female, for me it worked well. Lots of space to stop on the side, a lot of truck drivers going through, and cars coming from the KFC or gas station. Had a sign Berlin, as I wanted to go through Cottbus.rating: 5/5, wait: 10 min 🪧, ride: 221 km ↖

Terrible spot to leave Berlin. We (3 guys) waiter about 4 hours. There were a lot of cars passing by but nobody wanting to take us south. We ended up taking the 620 to Wannsee and then the s7 to Potsdam to take the bus to Michendorf. From there it took us less then 10 minutes to get a ride.rating: 1/5, wait: 240 min 🪧

Best spot to leave Berlin south or west.Ask around for rides west or(!) south and respekt common etiquette if there are other hitchhikers. I hitchhiked 15 times from here (mostly alone) and it always worked.
Waiting time 5-90 min.
60% of the time you end up 50km further at a big rest stop in Michendorf where A3 and A9 splits. While there might be another 45 min waiting time awaiting you its still worth it to go there. After Michendorf it will get better!

We got lucky here. Immediately when we hitchhiked from Berlin Airport a super cool guy saw us getting out of the car and took us right away. From here to Rheine is crazy.rating: 5/5, wait: 2 min, ride: 515 km ←

Big petrol station, Thumbed with a sign Berlin, got a ride to Poznan. Poznan is a bit of a dead spot though, so you might want to considering taking a lift that takes you further

quite big, many cars to talk to. but you need to walk back and forth a lot. somehow a lot of cars going to west Germany. We were a bit frustrated at some point. took us so much longer than expected to find someone to take us (2 male passing people) to berlin/Leipzig.rating: 3/5, wait: 100 min, ride: 477 km ↑

(Towards Poland) On a Friday morning in august, many cars going relatively slow, great visibility and space to stop. Most cars have German plates and are going to Berlin or Leipzig, but Poland is definitely possible.rating: 5/5, wait: 40 min 🪧, ride: 515 km →

Was standing with a sign "Remscheid" for 1 minute before the traffic light where people turn left to get on Autobahn. A kind lady picked up took me to the resting station (the one before Remscheid). The best spot in Cologne to hitchhike towards Hanover/Berlin so far, cuz you target exactly the traffic which will take you to the big resting station which is very good for hitchhiking.rating: 4/5, wait: 1 min, ride: 13 km ↗

We tried to get to the A2 (East) just to get to Helmstedt (or, if lucky, Magdeburg -> Berlin -> Poland), but we didn't get a lift. Many drivers told us that they were heading Western or Northern thoughrating: 2/5, wait: 45 min 🪧
