Theoretically good place, cars can stop at the bus stop. But in the morning there's a lot of traffic and people seem in a rush and don't really look at you. Okay spot to go in the direction of dresden/Chemnitz.

Great spot for Chemnitz and Leipzig. Cars have to stop at the traffic lights, and you can easily jump in. Decent traffic, the main way for trucks to Germany.

Hitched from the bus stop before the petrol station, as the petrol station was dead. Great spot, you can get a bus there, long visability and slow traffic, got loads of interaction from people going past, though most were staying in the area. After 15 minutes the Punk Band that took us to Chemnitz drove past and offered us a second lift up to their next gig in Leipzig, we took it and had a great night listening to them and other bands play in an end of summer hippie festival. Was awesome and even a safe place to camp.

Waited a long time, both thumbing and asking people. Not much interaction with thumbing, and the people we talked to were rude. Femme wheelchair user and a guy, Eventually we thumbed a lift with a punk band going to a festival in Chemnitz. Had a great time with them and at the festival.

I don’t know why this spot is so bad, but I tried both standing with a sign and asking drivers (for Nuremberg or at least somewhere closer), but for 4 hours nothing, everyone just refused. Ended up taking a ride to Chemnitz, where I had luck after just 10 mins of waiting (straight to Munich). So maybe if you are going from Dresden, rather go to the rest area near Chemnitz.

Was easy to hitchhike there. There were a lot of cars, and the could stop right behind me. Good spot for Berlin or Leipzig, Chemnitz

Likely a good spot for Berlin and Leipzig, but I had little luck here going in the Chemnitz direction. It was one of the last hitches of my journey. I looked a bit desperate, but one elderly couple took mercy on me and took me in.

Not a bad spot if you just need a ride to Chemnitz. A lot of space, and you can be seen clearly.

Lot of traffic, many people going far. Been there twice one time got a ride towards Chemnitz very fast, one time longer wait but ride all the way to Berlin. Sign recommended.

Not the best spot but i guess i got lucky with a quick ride to Chemnitz.

Got dropped off here by a trucker turning towards Czechia, walked up to a car with an older German pair showing them a sign for Chemnitz/Dresden but they signaled they wouldn't take me so I walked around the rastpaltz, asked a few truck drivers who said no, went to the toilet and the German guy signaled told me that he can take me but only to Dresdner Tor (I think a little bit out of pity when everyone else also said no), which was perfect for me as I wanted to hitchhike further towards Poland but I think it should be avoided as there are very few cars coming.

I got here around 12:30am and asked the staff if I could sleep on the bench in the McDonald's part and they nodded their heads. I covered my eyes with the cardboard and it was good enough, I started looking for a ride around 5am which may have been a little too late as many trucks already left around 4-4:30am but I was hitchhiking on Tuesday which menas a lot of truck drivers are in the area to unload or load their trucks and are returning West. After 2 hours of standing with a sign for Chemnitz/Dresden I finally got a ride with a Czech trucker who dropped me off not far from Chemnitz where I could find another ride. Should be much easier to find someone to Poland on Thurday or Friday.

Perfect spot to go south to the A9 (from there it's easy to go to A4 west), West to A38 or for A72 to Chemnitz. I'm using a sign with "A9", "C" (for Chemnitz) or "A38". Cars can stop very comfortably and are going slow enough because they drive around the corner rigth before. Right behind you is a space to stop.

This gas station has very little trafic. I spent 3 hours looking for a lift to A9 (leipzig). I did not get one. There were few people going in direction of Chemnitz and Poland. There were also few people going to Czech. But yeah it was generaly very little cars to ask. In the end i gave up on the spot and hitched on a regional road to A9.

Realy good Spot in all directions since there are Cars going every from Chemnitz. Cars can See u very good and can Stop in Bayern for the Bus.

Totally agree with Ireneo! Got a ride there after 40 mins wait. Rather bad place for cars to stop BUT POSSIBLE. I was going towards Nurnberg, got a ride to Chemnitz.
