Trying to get to Aire de Vémars, found a car driving to Cologne on a early Saturday morning. Accessible from metro station Montreuil Hôpital, walk to Rue de la Chasse the closest you can get to the gas station entrance. There's a pretty low wall you can climb over and maybe even a pathway, but I didn't see it in the dark. Be extra careful when walking the last 100 meters over the gas station entrance.

really nice spot most of the cars here are doing long distance ride so you’ll find anything i get some offers for cologne, hannover and then finally i got one the the hirschberg gas station before nurnberg totally recommend it !! place yourself next to the sign and hitchhike on both side of the road (sign required !) good luck (that spot is maybe the best to leave berlin south) 😌😌😌

Alot of cars with kids (no space for hitchhikers) But alot of cars also stop for you. You can find your direction (Netherlands/Cologne) In under an hour

I got dropped off here by accident, made some mistake with my gps. I wanted to go in the direction of Giessen, which is unlikely from that stop. But even cars going on the A3 towards Cologne didn't stop for me. There wasn't a lot of traffic in the early evening, it was mainly just truckers getting ready for the night and staring at me.

Good spot to get to the gas station down the road if you don't feel like climbing the fence. Decent traffic and got picked up almost immediately. About an hour away from cologne centre with public transport, google maps sends you through the woods and the entrance isn't really marked but there is a clear path.

Asked a guy filling his car and immediately got a lift to the outside of Cologne.

Guy and girl heading to Cologne. Waited 2h15 at the exit/entrance to the highway with a sign saying Germany / Köln. No luck, mostly Belgian cars. Moved to outside the shop entrance with our sign and immediately got offered a lift to Leuven by the Chief of Brussels police... (ACAB but they can sometimes do nice things)

Sooooooo many cars, very busy. Someone driving towards Cologne took me, dropped me off right at a gas station right before he turned north on A6 (I went west on A61)

I was going south, trucks are all headed east through Cologne and most passenger cars were headed north. One driver took pity and drove me out of his way to get me south. He said he told a friend over the phone there was a hitchhiker and the friend dared him to give the lift, it was his first time. Safety note: a 5 passenger car with 5 male occupants attempted to get me to give them money for a ride at this spot, even though they clearly didn't have space. They became belligerent when I declined, until they saw other people watching and sped away. I made a point of chatting with as people as possible after this in case they came back.

First one we asked took us to Cologne. Very busy restaurant and gas station with a lot of options

Drivers were overall not polite, relatively low passenger car traffic and a lot of dirty looks or avoidance - I was clean and groomed, didn't have this problem elsewhere. Saw a van with Spain number plates and kayaks on top, talked to the driver and he took me to just outside of Cologne.

Had a sign indicating E42 to Cologne, had my first offer in 5 minutes but she was going west. A friendly German couple offered a bit later, said they hitched a lot when they were young. I stood at the exit by the no parking except service vehicles sign to catch all cars (not trucks) as they exit. Beware what looks like a driveway is actually a local road and sees a lot of traffic.

Pretty big gas station, took an uber out of cologne to this station because we got stuck in the city, here we got picked up pretty quickly :)

It was getting dark so I felt like my chances were getting pretty low. Quite some people ignored me when I came up to them, the vibe of the place doesn’t really help being there with a cardboard. I wanted to go to cologne but went to Frankfurt airport instead and stayed in the city for the night.
