Waited a long time in the cold and the wind. However it was Sunday so not a lot of traffic and a lot of families with full cars. Taken by Mani to Erfurt gas station :)

Had no luck at this bus station a weekday morning. mostly local traffic. Maybe better go to jena/erfurt or eichelborn nord first

Lot's of truck so maby better for single person but not for 2 people. After almost 3h We get lift to better spot behind Erfut. People didn't want take us even to Erfurt

The route here is quite complicated (we took a train and two buses, unsure which ticket to buy and then we had to go 35 minutes). There are a lot of trucks and a few cars. We only just arrived, and someone took us to Erfurt. We were traveling as two people. It's a good place to travel east.

Pretty decent spot for me. I was staying in a really random spot, so got dropped here by a friend on his way to Erfurt, I was trying to get to Bielefeld. I waited near the exit, lots of space for cars to see and easy for cars to pull over and for other cars to get around them, and some sturdy oak trees to shelter from the weather. I got an extremely nice ride.

Held up a sign with Erfurt/Leipzig/Berlin and my thumb out on a Sunday noon. Got picked up after 40 minutes for a 90km ride to an autobahn gas station and from there it was easy sailing (asked people directly and two more drivers gave me a ride within a few minutes)

Good spot. You can wait before the petrol station and people can easily pull over to stop. Also there are a lot of cars going exactly in the direction of Erfurt.

It is not a good spot. The gas station is just before the junction of two highways and it is kind of messy to find out how to get there and if you can then get back on the highway. Thats why i think not many people stop there. I came in winter on a friday afternoon and there was no people taking gas and just one person in the restaurant. If you wanna go further north you should change at some other spot. If you wanna go to A4 towards Erfurt or Frankfurt you can walk to the rest area on A4. It is called Teufelstal and it is just 4km walk from here. You walk through a pretty nice forest and i think it is likely to be faster to walk there than to wait here.

As for this small of a place (there is only a toilet and some parking spaces) it was okay, really pretty tho. Ended up there at around 8 pm and caught a ride near Erfurt. A lot of ppl going to Leipzig or further west, very bad place for trying the south.

Good spot to go to Leipzig or Hannover. But very bad one to go to Frankfurt. I have no idea why it didn’t work but after 3 hours only one track could take me to Erfurt

Left the car and got 2 lifts to Erfurt within minutes

ok Reststop, but not much traffic. I've been there a few times, but once had trouble finding someone going west on the A4 towards Gera Erfurt... (2,5 h wait time). Most cars are heading south on the A72, some south. ~Lukas

Perfect to go to Erfurt

A lot of traffic goes south here, some are going west (A4) direction of Erfurt. Very few go north-west with direction Magdeburg. Anyway i found a direct lift to Magdeburg after 45 minutes of asking people at the gas station.

after 30 minutes I and my girlfriend got lift to Erfurt

kinda tricky to get a ride into Erfurt from here but not impossible

Great Point to get a RIde to Erfurt. I waite just 20min

A lot of People in the direction Nürnberg or Erfurt and it is also possible to get a hitch on the A38 to Kassel. I used this spot a lot of times and usual waiting time is 30 minutes. Normally I use a sign with 'A9'.

Good place if you want to go south or west in the direction of Nrnberg/Mnchen OR Erfurt/ Frankfurt/ Dortmund. Cars can stop easily in Ferdinand-Rhode-Strae.

On friday afternoon there wasn`t much traffic but still more then enough to hitchhike west. I got a ride to Erfurt after ~15 minutes.
