An not active and an active journeyman stoped bei, because they check every big station if there are other journeyman. They where on the way to norway and took us all the way to Göttingen. We could share the driving part, so they could chill 2 hours. It was allready getting dark on sunday so, i think we would not get far if they did not stopped. But it look for a normal day jn daytime for a good stop to go all directions.

Good spot, we think. It seems to be a regular spot for hitchhikers heading south/southwest/west. We stood by the western on-ramp to the autobahn. Not a lot of traffic, but we also arrived late in the day. P.S. There’s a shower: think about using it you bum! We were two guys hitchhiking late in the afternoon/evening. We were signaling to go for Leipzig/Magdeburg. The hour was late in the day, so when a driver offered us a ride to Leipzig we accepted. In hindsight, we should probably have headed straight west towards Magdeburg/Hannover, since it was difficult to plan the route after stopping on the road to, or in, Leipzig. We were heading northwest after Leipzig towards Göttingen/Kassel via the A38. We did however get onto the A38 by sheer luck, the driver’s poor sense of direction and him being a bit creepy (esoteric guy that let us lie in the back of his van). Stay safe out there folks.

There is a little cutout just before the roundabout. Ist short, but the cars are slow. Waitet here for 15 minutes with a sign for Göttingen.

Sunday afternoon: Nearly everybody was going south here, but only a few people had 2 free seats for us. After 20 minutes we found a couple that gave us a lift to Göttingen.

For Chemnitz and the center of Leipzig, this is a very good spot. But for Kassel/ Göttingen we waited 1,5 hours. It was the thrid car to head this destination in this period of time. The journey from Leipzig took us very long as well. Pack some food and a good load of time for this one.

after 15 minutes i got a lift to Friedland (near Göttingen).

I waited about 25 minutes before getting a lift to A7 in direction of Göttingen.

you can go there from göttingen hauptbahnhof by taking bus 130. it costs 3,20€ and takes you to "raseanger", which is the closest bus station near the roadhouse/gas station.

Going to Göttingen/Hannover, better get off one place before, in Guxhagen.

Got a ride to a service area near Paderborn after ~1 hour waiting. It`s not so easy but possible to find somebody who want take you direction Göttingen.

The fuelstation has closed in southern direction(northern it's as it was). There is still a parking lot and I had luck with a truck driver, but, coming from Göttingen, you better ignore this station imho. (next on A7 is Hasselberg).

A lot of people going only to Hildesheim or Göttingen, but in the end got a ride more south.

This is also the place to change cars if you're going south to A7 (Göttingen) via A39.

55min wait for a ride to Göttingen. Mainly traffic into Hannover city and mainly no single drivers!

Direction: Leipzig, Halle, Magdeburg, Hanover, even Göttingen small gas station, but last resting place before leipzig. To be closed within a year from today. Not too much traffic but asking people helps you out

Petrol station southwards. A great place to head south to Hannover, Göttingen, Kassel. Or maybe east towards Berlin. Waiting time: 5-? min.

a lot of traffic comming through on "A 7" at 'tank und rastanlange göttingen'. you can also north/south change the sides of "A 7" via a bridge. safe even at night with enough traffic even later in the evening. you should not be waiting for longer than 10 minutes on any side ('göttingen east' or '- west') of this 'rastanlage'.
