Travel to north. 2 people m&f. Sitting there after our last ride and a guy walked by, see our sign at the backpacks und asked to take us with him. Bring us some kilometers to near Karlsruhe. Is first big reststation after france, lot of different people stop here.

Germans were rather unwilling to stop as there was not enough space to stop. I was exactly at the intersection to get both sides traffic. I was lucky as a guy came in a huge BMW stopped in the middle of the road just to let me in, oblivious of the others cars behind him! He then drove me fast to Karlsruhe (up to 180km/h!).

Went to Pforzheim, but I can imagine it’s easy to go to Karlsruhe or even further quite easily. I was there during lunch so it was full of cars there.

We stood there with a sign. Very low traffic. After long hour wait we got a ride to karlsruhe bahnhoff

We waited at the bus stop for five minutes with two people 11am got a ride to karlsruhe

I just needed to leave Karlsruhe in the direction of Nürmberg (east or north). The first guy I asked took me north to a better spot.

A lovely man came up to us for a ride to Karlsruhe in a beautiful porsche.

Very good spot to go North. I stood after the roundabout. In a few minutes I got a ride to Buhl rastplatz on front of Karlsruhe.

There's space for the cars to stop at the bus stop, lots of traffic any time of the day, was trying to go north on the A5 so got a sign for Karlsruhe.

Saturday in April, few cars and some of them driving locally or full. A guy driving to Karlsruhe took me to my destination on the way.

After 4 hours I got a 700 km ride to my hometown. A friend of mine got a ride to the german border in the east in like 90 minutes and an other hitchhiker after 60 also to the direction of Karlsruhe.

I asked people who came out of the restaurant. The first people I asked would have taken me to Stuttgart but I declined. Around the 10th person I asked took me to Karlsruhe. They were really suspicious and didn’t quite understand why I was hitchhiking but it was a very nice ride :)

Gas stations are always good spots, and this one is also a BlaBlaCar spot ! A lot of traffic even at midday, in the direction of Karlsruhe.

I wanted to go to Heidelberg. It was already dark and it was Saturday... A group of several polish truck drivers were sleeping there until Monday, going back to Poland. Asked around for about 1.5 hours, almost no traffic, so I decided to settle for a ride to Karlsruhe and catching a train to Heidelberg. The spot should be good, but my timing and luck were bad.

Got a ride with the second car I asked. Not a lot of cars at around 10:00 in the morning on a friday. Lots of polish car signs and trucks, the people I asked were heading towards Karlsruhe and Ulm.

Wanted to go east to Karlsruhe and waited for 2 hours without luck. Once we changed our sign homburg we got a ride in less than 10 minutes.

I was holding a sign saying "Augusburg/Karlsruhe" and got a ride within 20mins. Two gas stations and lots of niche where rides can pull over. High traffic too.

Gonna go against consensus here. Almost all cars are local traffic and the ones that aren’t are usually going to Offenburg. I waited close to three hours with my sign saying Karlsruhe-Heidelberg before a French guy I talked to at the station took me to the autobahn.

Its alright, it is possible for cars to stop, but not much traffic, direction Karlsruhe
