Do not rcommend getting stuck here late, dead gas station, very few cars passing by and many going north, and truck drivers just coming to sleep. I got super lucky waiting at the exit of this Rastplatz as a Polish truck driving on the highway saw my sign for Koblenz and decided to stop at the exit lane of Rastplatz. He was able to drop me off as far as Werratal Rastplatz near Eisenach

After 25 minutes of standing with a sign for Mayen/Koblenz got a ride to Ulmen, which was very empty, try to get at least to Mayen or rastplatz just before Mayen.

Easy to get here as many people are going to Trier but difficult to go any further (I think people are a little afraid of Police checks at the border in Germany), be careful where you get dropped off because I got desperate after waiting over 2 hours and took a ride to some random exit between Trier and Wittlich. Try at least to get to Wittlich, then Mayen and if you're lucky you'll make it to Koblenz.

Many cars
Excellent for Sleeping: we asked the workers and they allowed us to sleep in a upstairs area were it was warm and private. I even took some pillows from a sofa there.

Almost no cars going to Germany. Here is how to we got to Germany: walk along the highway for 5 minutes (direction luxembourg) and exit the highway onto the first bridge that comes up. From there walk left and you will reach a train station that will take you to luxembourg for free. From there use your Deutschlandticket for the train to Koblenz.

June 2018:
Got stuck here close to midnight, ended up walking into Koblenz the next morning. We slept in the ditch outside the parking lot outside Bauhaus, which was a surprisingly comfortable ditch.
Tried to hitchhike from the gas station and McDonald's the next morning, gave up after a few hours.

Got stung by a bee the next morning. My feet still hurts when I think about this place. 10/10 best memory of my life.

Almost all traffic goes to Koln, getting to the south required some asking but after a while we got a hitchhike all the way to Koblenz

Lots of people go to Stuttgart or direction Koblenz and Netherland. I waited 2 hours then a sweet girl saved me from this terrible place and took me to A6, which leads to France! I was heading Paris, anyway. Good luck! :D

Good spot for Vallendar or even Koblenz. It is the best place for drivers to drop you, if you come from A3 or A61

Parking Rennschlag (no WC): direction north/west (Koblenz, Kaiserslautern, Saarbrcken, Mannheim, Ludwigshafen)
This is a meeting place for gay men. Cars are there, but mostly locals. Note that most cars coming from east on A6 going north onto A61 or west onto A6 don't use this part of A6 and use the A61 between Hockenheim and Frankenthal, instead. They save approx. 2 km by that.

oberpfälzer alb is a good spot, but not on fridayevening because truckers go to rest for the weekend
once I had to camp just on the personalentrance
the personal looks it bit distrustfull towards hitchhikers
I got once one ride to Heerlen Netherlands and one time I took a ride direction Heilbron to switch there direction Koblenz and afterwards to Holland

Wanted to go on A61 direction Koblenz on a saturday in May. Good place for cars to stop but they didn't stop. In the end people who walked in the nature park and parked over there took me away a little bit further on the A61.
