If you get dropped off nearby and don't want to take public transport to a better stop, this feels like a decent one. It's the main route for traffic coming from the south, and they have to stop at the traffic light for a long time to jump into a car. I stood here with a sign that said "Leipzig," and it worked within 20 minutes. I jumped in a truck all the way to Hannover. But maybe I was just lucky.

Great spot for Chemnitz and Leipzig. Cars have to stop at the traffic lights, and you can easily jump in. Decent traffic, the main way for trucks to Germany.

Hitched from the bus stop before the petrol station, as the petrol station was dead. Great spot, you can get a bus there, long visability and slow traffic, got loads of interaction from people going past, though most were staying in the area. After 15 minutes the Punk Band that took us to Chemnitz drove past and offered us a second lift up to their next gig in Leipzig, we took it and had a great night listening to them and other bands play in an end of summer hippie festival. Was awesome and even a safe place to camp.

Prpbably a great place to go to dresden because we got offered like 4 times. We were going to leipzig tho. Even though this place is just before the turn on the highway there weren't a lot of people who could take us there. Eventually got picked up by a couple who dropped us of in thr middle of Leipzig.

A lady came to me and my friend, we didn’t event hold our sign yet, she just asked us where we were going and she offered a ride to Leipzig. A lot of cars were there, even at 8 am ona Wednesday. There is a fuel station and KFC.

Very nice spot, a lot of traffic going north. Our driver was going all the way to Leipzig. Our destination was towards Prague, so we got dropped at Kammerstein and walked to Kammersteiner Land Rastplatz. From there it was easy to hitch a ride further towards Prague.

Fine place, but few cars, better to get to the next rest stop before dresden because there you also get cars coming from Leipzig.

Was easy to hitchhike there. There were a lot of cars, and the could stop right behind me. Good spot for Berlin or Leipzig, Chemnitz

Ĉi tio certe estas la plej ofte vizitita loko, kiun mi iam ajn trovis ĉi tie ĉe hitchmaps... haha. Mi jam uzis la ŝildon Leipzig/Dresden ĉi tie, kaj metalulo estis tiu, kiu kondukis min tien. Ni aŭskultis multan bonan muzikon.

Likely a good spot for Berlin and Leipzig, but I had little luck here going in the Chemnitz direction. It was one of the last hitches of my journey. I looked a bit desperate, but one elderly couple took mercy on me and took me in.

There is little traffic, (we were here on monday at 4pm), but it is worth the wait. People are going to Leipzig, Hanover or somewhere further west.

Waited with a sign for Berlin, Leipzig, Erfurt. There is space to pull in and lots of cars. Enjoy!

When i arrived a truck was there and upon asking took me straight to leipzig. To get to the spot i took the bus to Auchan and walked along the fence until i found a hole

I waited two hours but it was a low traffic day and eventually there was some works on the gas station. Definitely the best place to go west ! Got a ride to Leipzig. If you really want to go to Germany it's completely doable there's a lot of Germans. Actually more than Austrians haha. But you have to talk to them. I waited almost two hours at the exit of the gas station then I decided to talk directly to the gas station and I was offered also a ride by a bus driver for free to Graz at the same moment I asked Hungarian couple with a dutch plate, they were going at the North of Holland but we agree to let them drop me at Leipzig. The first car I approached took me all the way to Leipzig, look for German licence plates and they have Bundesrepublik on their plates.

quite big, many cars to talk to. but you need to walk back and forth a lot. somehow a lot of cars going to west Germany. We were a bit frustrated at some point. took us so much longer than expected to find someone to take us (2 male passing people) to berlin/Leipzig.

For some reason it took me much longer than expected to get a ride to Leipzig.

Some space to stop but only cars coming from the right will see you, and only those on one lane will be able to stop. Had a sign saying Leipzig, eventually changed for A4 tankstelle, after which I got a ride to Dresdner Tor very fast.

(Towards Poland) On a Friday morning in august, many cars going relatively slow, great visibility and space to stop. Most cars have German plates and are going to Berlin or Leipzig, but Poland is definitely possible.
