The spot is ok but not perfect. maybe it is even better to stay in greifswald on the street but not sure about that. On the onramp itself 8direction Rostock) there is not really space so you need to stand few meters before. Drivers can see you well but cars are quite fast here.rating: 3/5, wait: 15 min, ride: 54 km ←

the only Gas station directly on the highway between Rostock and Greifswald. It serves both directions but there were more people for direction east. I was ther on a work day noon in winter. There was not super much trafic but some cars would still come. Most people were going to Poland or Stralsund. One person would be driving towards schwerin, one person to magdeburg. Few people were going to Rostock and on a ferry to Denmark. Only few people were going west. It took me 4 hours until a person agreed to take me to Lübeck.
So all in all I´d recomend if you wanna go Stralsund or Poland. If you wanna go further west I'd recomend to get out on one of the parking areas on the highway or to hitch somewhere from rostock. this place sucks.

Getting here from the ferry is a hassle. Most people are local or driving north, I got a ride to Rostock central after half an hour by asking people at the gas station. If you want to hitchhike by sign/thumb its also possible, but you're probably better off just asking here, as there isn't that much traffic, and pulling over can be stressful here imo.rating: 2/5, wait: 30 min

Lovely spot. Friendly people, some local hitchhikers and I quickly got a ride to a rasteplatz near Wittstock (I was going to Rostock, but met people going to Hamburg). According to my ride this used to be one of the two main places to hitchhike from West Berlin to West Germany so you're taking part in history as well as getting a quick ride.rating: 5/5, wait: 20 min, ride: 87 km ↖

This spot is perfect if you wanna go south (ferry Gedser-Rostock/Roedby-Puttgarden or to the island Fyn) Cars have plenty of space to stop in the lane going left. If you catch the morning traffic many cars drive to work and can putt you out at the petrol station Karlslunde. From there you can easily find someone going further!Alone I waited 10 min. With my friend it took 30.

This sercice area "Demminer Land" opend in July 2016 and is the only gas station at the A20 between Rostock an Prenzlau. It is only located at the western lane but traffic going north can excess it via a bridge. There are not many reasons why you should end up here but if you do, you can choose between going to Berlin or Rostock. For going to Greifswald find soneone going directly there or let them drop you either at exit 27 (Gtzkow) or exit 25 (Greifswald).

Most of the cars going to Hamburg. I planned to go through Rostock on my way to Denmark, but this guy who looked really helpful offered me a ride to Kiel, so I changed my mind. On the way I have seen some other gas stations before the roads going to Kiel and Rostock split. So maybe you can accept a ride to Hamburg or Kiel at this gas station here, and you just ask for the driver to drop you off at one of the next gas stations where you still might find people going to Rostock, if that's what you want.―LeoCarona, June 2016

To catch a ride to a ferry to Rostock, locate yourself just after the roundabout, as you'd be the best visible there. It's good to know certain hours when ferry leaves, so you don't have to spend whole day or night there.―Anonymous, June 2015
