A small local gas station, but a good spot if you’re heading to Kaiserslautern—there’s plenty of local traffic. Hopefully, this spot works well for trips toward Trier, Saarbrücken, or even France too.rating: 5/5, wait: 40 min 🪧, ride: 25 km →

Well, we wanted to go to france from trier so we decided to go to berchem by train and start our journey here since the reviews and everything looked great. And it is a great stop. BUT what surprised us - the bridge across the autobahn got demolished but is still shown on google maps. We discovered this when we got there (lol) and luckily they already built another one in sight, but we still had to walk about an hour more than planned. When we got to the station we had to cross/ get through 3 fences. That was not so hard since two of these were construction site fences, aka not permanent and relatively easy to get through. The next one was already torn down. But the last fence we had to climb over to finally get to the station. We picked the spot where the trucks are parking at the end of the station, i would say it is the best option to get to berchem. I dont know why they built these fences but you have to be physically fit to enter berchem from the outside. Getting there by car is no problem. Once we where there it was around 12:00, we found a lovely couple in around 30 minutes that took us to metz. We were two people and we had a sign.Final conlusion: it is a great spot but you have to overcome some challenges to get there :)

I got searched by the cops here. Apparently all people wirh longer hair and a cardboard sign sign use drugs... but eventually i got my ride after all the people left who had seen me getting searched. Good spot to get to Trier after all.―Anonymous, June 2014

A bus top immediately behind a traffic light, so drivers see you pretty soon. On a saturday morning I waited 15 minutes for a lift to the next gas station. A very good alternative for Autobahn 623 direction Trier.―Anonymous, May 2014

Heavy traffic with 90% returning to Germany - most to Trier, some actually a lot further north. Finding someone going to France: frustrating, but doable.―CK, January 2013

A lot of German cars coming for cheap gas. One guy took me to Trier and left me at a roundabound/ramp for a next ride direction Saarbrucken. He gave me a lighter.―Robbel, May 2012
