Worst place to ask for a ride to Budapest, a lot of people going to Vienna. Besides that the owner of the gas station is completely against hitchhiking, he tried to kick us by calling the police and we almost got into serious trouble. Avoid this gas station, only seems a good option if you’re going to Vienna but still I believe tha there are better places

We got a direct ride to Budapest after around 20 minutes. There were many peoples at the gas refill or at the parking. Great spot to continue in direction of Passau, Linz, Wien and Budapest I would say.

quite good spot to catch a hitchhike to Hungary/Budapest, we were very lucky and some polish people gave us a ride straight to Budapest (we are also polish), but our friends that we left there hadn't so much luck and they were waiting there for someone to take them for 2hrs and they didnt even cross the border with that hitchhike so it depends

You should NOT hitchhike here. First there is always heavy traffic on this road and the cars have very little space to stop so it is dangerous.

Second: car at this spot goes to very different directions. Some will take the highway, some will go to north some to east.

It is an extremely inpractial spot. You should go couple hundred meters to east either to the highway intersection (if you'll go towards Budapest or Debrecen) or to over the big roundabout under the bridge.

Honestly I have no idea why people would use this spot.

I tried for a while to get to Budapest with a sign but there weren’t many Hungary plate cars (although two separate drivers thought I wanted to buy a taxi to there.) After that I resigned myself to stop off at Bratislava. I tried a few spots, but in the end that one worked in about 10 minutes. About 50 metres down the pavement from the bills. I think it is not too difficult to hitch to Slovakia from here but I would NOT recommend for Budapest.
