Not many people use the gas station, we got lucky, and people picked us up from the highway and took all the way to Szeged. Ask around.

We tried to hitch a ride at the end of the of the parking lot, but for 3,5 hours nothing. Then we went to the pump and asked around and after 10 minutes we got a ride all the way to Szeged.

Tried this spot to get to Szeged. Shit to get there, few cars going on the highway and most of the ones that do will take an exit into the suburbs. They also cannot stop well since youre basically standing on the on-ramp. Don't go here!

This is I believe the exact location of the spot detailed on Szeged’s HitchWiki page. It worked exceptionally well, with sign SRB got picked up quickly by a babysitter driving to Subotica. I chose to drive with her over the border, the wait was about an hour, and I figured it was worth it to avoid potential complications with walking across. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of traffic here, though it was a Friday afternoon so that probably helped.

good for Szeged

We waited at the entrance of the petrol station for two hours with a sign that said: Szeged Románia felé. One car stopped, but we had too much luggage (two people, two backpacks, two instruments) and then two turkish truckers took us to the border of Turkey in two days.

Got a ride to Szeged after 5 minutes. Big up to Hungarian. Thanks Olshi and Jordi!

Direct to Szeged with locals.

Gas station is more or less destroyed, so you have to hitchhike on the road with thumb. Middle traffic, all going to Szeged. Got a ride quite quickly.

not a good placw, arrived at 6 p.m and didnt catch anything. Next day after sleeping in woods, romanian guy took as to Szeged.There are a lot of hungarian people who dont want to take hitchhikers.

Good place to get a ride from Szeged towards Serbian border

Waited for about 30 minutes with a sign Szeged, little cover from the sun but at least there's a KFC nearby

first we stop near petrol station. After 2,5h hour we decide to move to this place. After 10-15min someone took us Szeged

Its quite hard to find a ride to the other side of the border. We were HH with sign "H" and after some time we got a ride to Morahalom in Hungary, from where its easy to find a ride to Szeged.

1h waited to go M5 Szeged, but no one took us. Much local traffic. Wen't to the patrol Station next and got a ride after 15min though it doesn't look very ideal.

Great spot if you're travelling to Romania, not so great for Serbia. There's a city bus stop 10 minutes walk west the station from where you can get to Szeged and then the next OMV station by bus, which is 3km from the border. A driver told us you can only cross the border on foot on the crossing Horgos 2, but not on the highway one, so be aware of that.

Huge traffic and lots of trucks, also nice facilities. If you're going south to Szeged, it's a great spot.
