it isnt sign posted but i asked a local and he said this is the road people would be using to get to ennis from milltown. during festival season especially i reckon you could chance writing limerick or even dublin on a sign and thumb the whole way home, i got very lucky immediately with a lift to port laois while i signed for ennis.

signed for Limerick to get into town but got a lift all the way to tipperary, prolly not your average experience but would say decent spot for going into Limerick, good visibility, medium space to pull in, much traffic

Found a lift going to Killarney via the Cliffs of Moher. So got a tour with a lovely couple through Clare on my way to Limerick

after a bit some local guy told me I'm in the wrong spot and brought me to the road cars would be taking Ennis/Limerick direction. have gotten lucky here before but there's better spots in the area

Huge service station on the highway before the Limerick Cork Split, cars going everywhere we got a lift to Limerick almost immediately

walked north west along the ennis road with my thumb out and a sign for Galway. i got a lift just before the roundabout all the way to Tuam. most people driving to galway or ennis will leave limerick along this road and theres plenty of space along this road for cars to pull over with the bike lane and cars are going slow.

good spot for getting out of galway south bound. take bus 404 to oranmore north and walk back a bit to the roundabout. better for rides to Ennis or limerick than trying to hitch on the motorway by the clinic. lots of traffic on weekday morning

2ppl, wednesday evening, direction Limerick. We decided to get dropped off here, since our driver was only going to Naas. We found a ride immediately, asking the first van driver. Probably very lucky us, but it seemed nevertheless like a good spot. Moderate traffic.

2ppl, wednesday afternoon. We came from Dundalk, wanting to get a ride towards Limerick. Our strategy was to find a ride from someone going past Dublin to Red Cow (a Luas stop, on the west side of Dublin), take the Luas and then continue from there hitchhiking west to Limerick. The strategy worked quite well, as we found that person really soon. We asked around at the entrance of the station.

Good spot, space to Park, a lot of cars are passing by without stopping because it's just before the roundabout but we got a lift to Limerick!

Good place to go to Limerick. Unfortunately, cars go very fast, but there is lot of place for stopping.

A busy petrol station. Very good to ask for to Ennis, Limerick or Galway

Great place to go to either Limerick city, M18 Ennis/Galway or M7 Dublin. A sign might help because drivers might be going in any one of the 3 directions. Its almost the last stop before the motorway starts.

On the main road to Limerick, between the bus stop and the tourist office.

A 10 min walk out from town but it is worth it, hard shoulder for cars to stop. Toward Limerick, Galway.

It's on the motorway under a bridge so you have a dry place if it's raining. Traffic toward Cork, Limerick etc. It was easy to get a lift.
