Workers on gas station are not friendly and don’t you let be there, you have to be next to Autogrill. Lot of people in weekend going direction Verona/Milan, but hitchhiking in Italy is not so easy. But you will definitely find a way and someone who’ll take you with.

Lot of traffic, but better to ask someone to take you to highway at least, becase there are lot of directions from this place. We (a couple) had a sign Verona/Milan, it was raining so we asked a guy while he was filling the gas and he took us to gas station on highway.

Good spot, lot of cars afternoon going to Venice or Trieste direction. We (couple) had a sign Venice/Verona and a young guy took us directly to Padova to the centre and bought us a drink afterwards.

Quite lot of cars going to Venice direction to highway. Not the best spot but still the option. We (2) had a sign Venice/Verona. People at least waving on us.

Got kicked out of the closest Maverik gas station in less than a minute by an employee. The on-ramp was perfect, but highway patrol pulled over after 10-15'. Apparently, they got called I was getting in front of vehicles (I was not). They seem bothered bc they had to ask me to leave and couldn't offer me any alternative to keep going. I went on the road before the traffic light. They said nothing bc it was out of their jurisdiction. Got a ride soon after that from Verona, a retired woman heading to ID to play the lottery. Lots of smiling and waving hands.

It’s not great, but it’s Italy. And with it being Italy, it’s actually pretty good! I got there in the afternoon in late January, with a sign reading “Verona”. I barely got any looks from passing cars, in all the time I was then I think it was two waves at most. But after 45 minutes, Michaela and her young son offered me a ride to Desenzano. As we were driving, her son who spoke English would translate between us, to save me the horror of my broken Italian. She decided that she absolutely refused to drop me at a service station to continue hitching, not because it was dangerous in her eyes, but because she thought it would take too long! In her eyes, she wanted to take me all the way to Verona, so the best she could do was invite me to her home for lunch, and buy me a train ticked to Verona! After countless refusals on my behalf, I finally gave in to the hospitality, and had the loveliest afternoon. “I’ve never had anything like this happen when hitching before!” “You’re in Italy now.”

Got taken right away into direction Verona. Big autogrill lots of drivers to ask. Two male hitchhikers. Summer 2025

Not sure how to get here, another driver got me here. Got a ride to Verona offered in less then 10 minutes. Wanted to go to Switzerland so I only took it to Autogrill Secchia Est near Modena, which had a little bit more traffic.

Good place for hitchhiking. You can stop just after the traffic lights and pedestrian crossing. There is plenty of place for cars to stop, they go slowly and all of them leave the airport. I had Bolzano/Verona sign and after 10 mins I got a very nice ride to Trent

I accidentally got dropped her, very bad, worker threatened to call the police on me. I changed my sign from Venice to Verona to get out of there as fast as possible. I got lucky getting picked up

Took a long time and not a great place to stop. Had a sign that said Venice. Not to bad tho, got a ride to verona

Not the best spot, but it works just fine to get further on towards Verona. You can probably find a better spot along the SS12 route though.

Easy to catch a ride along the SS12 route, ideal for off-highway direction towards Verona. I would recommend taking this route to avoid getting stuck on the highway, its very easy to catch rides all the way to Verona, it took us 3 rides and we waited mby 30 minutes alltogether.

Waited here a long time without getting a ride. I wanted to go to Brenner, Austria, but most cars went to Milano or Verona. Therefore its better for this directions, but not really for going northwards. I stood in front of the sign but the most time next to the parking lot. As I went to the spot behind the toll station an Italian guy stopped and said its forbidden to stay there. After that I went to the big roundabout.

We were lucky this time we were litteraly arriving by foot to the spot and managed to stop a car to Verona right then and there. The thing is everything points to if your going to Verona from Trento THIS IS THE SPOT ( we were lucky but it still is) Over all in Italy the highway entry fee spots are the best! ;)

Great Spot to go into Verona City after getting dropped of from the highway. In my opinion a sign helps a lot since there are so many possible destinations.

Great spot if you're going north to Trento, we (two guys) had multiple people signaling and one person offering to take us. A bit difficult for cars to stop so Trucks will generally not slow down. With a sign to Verona we got a ride in about an hour.

Cars did not stop for us, tried on 2 different days. We looked like casual backpackers, 2 people m and f. Signs written with Verona and Trieste. We took a flixbus to Trieste in the rnd (it was cheaper than blablacar).
