Had a sign saying "Utrecht / Amersfoort"
Took me 20 min to find a belgium couple who even made a detour to bring me directly at my final destination "Zeewolde" on their way to go north of the Netherlands.

Direction Amersfoort/Arnhem. Decent spot with a lot more space to stop than the other spot a bit further down the road. I still had to wait quite a while but I guess it was just bad luck.

Got dropped here many times, it's not really my favourite and I prefer hitchhiking from the exit lane in the center of amersfoort. My shortest wait was 5 minutes for direction den haag, but quite a few times I had to wait for almost one hour.

One of the best places in Utrecht for going northeast (A28). Got a ride to Amersfoort or Zwolle within 10 minutes countless times on this spot. Just ask drivers nicely - staff are friendly and let's keep it that way.

Shell petrol station on street going towards A27. Most cars going northeast (A28, Amersfoort, Zwolle) but also south (A27, Nieuwegein)

Spot at the traffic lights for directions Den Haag/Rotterdam (A4), Utrecht (A2) and Amersfoort (A1). Try to make eye contact or ask people. The traffic lights on the other side of the hightway also work.

Many cars turning left towards the ring highway. For Amersfoort, Osnabrck,Hannover, Berlin have a sign saying A1 and BP. That should get you to the first gas station on the highway.

Got a ride to Amersfoort in about ten minutes. There is a small place where you can be seen by people parking and tanking.

On-ramp Kampen on N50, direction Zwolle/Amersfoort/Apeldoorn.

Awesome. Hard. Shoulder.

Waited for 4 hours in august 2014. My longest wait so far, but it also got me my longest ride: straight to Amersfoort (NL). Left me with very mixed feelings.

Exit 17 Wezep, A28 towards Amersfoort. Not so much traffic here at all, but you'll be able to stand safely on the hard shoulder. Cars go slow here.

We were picked up within a minute on a holliday thursday morning 7am (Hemelvaartsdag)! (crazy luck of course) Ride to Emmeloord with a sign "Amersfoort/Groningen"

On-ramp 8a Amersfoort-Vathorst. A28 direction Utrecht (/Amsterdam). Hard shoulder just behind a roundabout.

Just before the on-ramp back onto the highway, the traffic flows from both sides of the petrol station merge. Traffic wil diverge near Amersfoort, but going south (Utrecht) or west (Amsterdam/Rotterdam) is doable.

Service station De Middelaar, A1 towards Amersfoort / Amsterdam.
Doesn't seem like such a good spot with another service station just a few km before this one, but actually it attracts quite a few cars!
