Its a really good spot to get to the Netherlands because this road leads to the cities in that direction. I needed to reach Maastricht and it was the first driver who took me directly there. Its faster to get a ride standing with a sign.rating: 5/5, wait: 20 min, ride: 110 km →

It should be a good spot to go south to Maastricht, but for some reason it took me really long. I was trying to talk to people directly, but also to just stand with the sign.rating: 4/5, wait: 50 min, ride: 54 km ↙

Two hours with Belgium,Maastricht sign waiting. we were boy and a girl and not one stopped for us, there is no too much traffic. We were lucky because a guy was passing by we showed the panel, he did no with his head than I said thank you in Arabic ( because he looked like an Arab) so he took us till Masstricht. we were really lucky because it looked like a really bad spot―Anonymous, August 2019

Got a direct ride to Maastricht (155km) in 14 minutes. Two other hitchhikers the same day got a ride to Maastricht just after they left their previous vehicle.―Mave94, January 2017

^ I've hhed here mostly to Maastricht (south), once Antwerp (west), once Eindhoven (north) - always got away rather soon (except for the one time I stood there at 3am for an hour and gave up)―Fverhart, April 2015

Good hitchhiking spot to go to directions Venlo, Maastricht, Duisburg, Dsseldorf, Kln... I waited only 10 minutes on a calm morning... You can get here by bus, with several lines (exit De Doekenborg or Van Boetbergweg/Aldenhof)―Anonymous, March 2015

Very good spot. Got a ride to Maastricht in 5 minutes. There is a roundabout and zebras for every sides, so cars go slowly and can see you.―Anonymous, February 2015

Direction Maastricht. You have the help of the traffic lights and a lot of cars going this direction, but if there are cars parked right after you may have problems. I accepted a ride to Vis after 30 minutes waiting. It was worth it because in Vis the place is very calm and benefits the eye-contact.―Anonymous, February 2015

Hitchhiked several times to get to The Netherlands from here. Usually rides less than an hour to get a ride (mostly to southern Limburg (Maastricht/Heerlen), but sometimes also towards Venlo).―Maxim1110, November 2014

Should be pretty good for direction Roermond/Maastricht, but we wanted to go east from Venlo and we seemed to be lucky getting a ride pretty quickly. Others going in the same direction waited a lot longer. (approx. an hour or so)―Maxim1110, September 2014

Take bus 5 or 6 and ask the driver to drop you off near to highway E40. Not many cars pass by but it should be possible to hitch a ride to the next gas station (10 k) and from there further east to Aachen, Liege (Luik) or Maastricht.―Maddis, September 2014

At the tunnel entrances on the N90 and N610 on Canal La Derivation in Liege you can hitch fairly well towards Maastricht and Sprimont/Arlon/Luxembourg. There are hard at some of the tunnels shoulders.―Fverhart, September 2014

For direction to Aachen the locals from Heerlen will more likely take this road than the highway so we tried even if it looks like there is not enough space but there was and we got a ride pretty fast! For Maastricht try the other spot on next to the gas station.―Thejourneyramino, August 2014

We were HH very late so it was harder to get a ride. We tried without a sign but locals advices us to use the sign and we got a ride! Two guys heading to Maastricht.―Thejourneyramino, August 2014

Access lane A2 near Rothem. Direction Eindhoven / Venlo.Driver can easily stop here.
From Maastricht you get close with bus line 59 or 159, get out at busstop "Kruispunt" in Rothem. From there walk 500 meter south on Ambyerweg / cyclingpath.
