Good Spot. Easy to get a ride to the ferry or with a bit of Luck all the Way up to Haugesund or Bergen. Both times i hitchhiked from there i got a ride within 30-40 min. If you‘re coming from Stavanger it makes sense to take the Bus to out there.rating: 5/5, wait: 30 min, ride: 5 km ↖

In direction of Stavanger there is no place to stand after the roundabout, so we had to wait at the exit of gas station.rating: 3/5, wait: 30 min 🪧, ride: 12 km ↓

Good spot, decent traffic towards Stavanger, but I guess hitchiking died down a bit nowadays. We were very lucky to get a hitch all the way to Stavanger.rating: 4/5, wait: 40 min, ride: 62 km ↓

Bus stop for hitching south. A bit too much traffic for my taste, though. This might be your spot if you want to hitch from Stavanger or Sandnes southwards. If you're leaving Stavanger you may need to take a bus or train Sandnes and then walk to here (5 km from the centre. Fares are expensive but you can often get away without a ticket especially by bus.―Anonymous, August 2016

we (3 boys) were heading towards stavanger. dont be shy to ask on the ferry, if you cant find someone on your ferry, wait for the next one.―Johannesunterwegs, August 2015

There is not much space for cars to stop, but there is a lot of slow traffic and almost everybody is going west on the e39 towards Stavanger.―Anonymous, June 2015

Perfect spot for going to Stavanger. It's a bus stop - much place for cars to stop, and they're not going that fast in here as it's just after the roundabout.

Very good spot towards Stavanger. There is a nice bus stop where cars drive slowly after roundabout, and you eliminate a lot of traffic going other places. Also a shop nearby!―Anonymous, May 2014

Direction: southTo get south out of Stavanger is pretty hard but you can try also this bus station - it worked for me ... though there is lot of locals going to the city, it's on the E 39, so there are also people going through Stavanger more south ...

Direction: both Oslo and StavangerThere is a roundabout which slows down the cars and bus stops on both sides of it where there is enough space to pull off and they can also help you in case of rain.

The place itself is quite good to go in direction of Stavanger. There is a bus stop and a few hundreds meters before even a petrol station (I recommend staying close to the junction though, to get also the traffic coming from the other direction and turning your direction). It was a bit difficult to get a lift, not due to the location itself but maybe to bad luck and not-willing-to-help drivers, but still is a better place than the one few kms east as it filters out most of the local traffic.―Anonymous, September 2012

It might look as a good place to hitch back to Stavanger after Kjerag, and in fact it is not bad: plenty of cars stopping to get some food... only problem is most are local traffic and/or full and anyway despite being a good place there's a better one just few kms westernmost.. so get even a very shortlift 'itll the junction with the road to stavanger, as there you'll get some more traffic (ie: cars coming from west) and more filtered to your destination.―Anonymous, September 2012

If you need a lift back to Stavanger after climbing Kjerag, the parking at the bottom of the mountain is quite an obvious place to ask. Most people had just got down, they might phisically recognise you or anyway be empathetic as they shared the same adventure. We got a lift immediately, but maybe is better to turn a few off 'till you get one going all the way to Stavanger, as we got a short lift from people that were going another direction at some point, and after that it became more difficult... the road to Stavanger is ot very busy and without being recognised as fellow-climbers less cars will stop.―Anonymous, September 2012

This spot is excellent for heading south the Stavanger. Waited 2-3 minutes for a direct ride to Stavanger. NOTE: you'll need to pay for two ferries along the way. One costs 55kr, and the other 35kr, so be prepared.―Anonymous, August 2012
