A guy and a girl on a Friday at noon, with a sign. This spot is good if you get stranded in the area : cars don't go fast and there is enough space to stop. But a lot of people only go to Stavanger. Two cars stopped and the last one took us to Forus, south of Stavanger, but we got stranded there so, if you can, try to have ride further, like Ålgård.

The higher spots were inaccessible due to roadwork, so we walked to this one instead, which I think is for the best : there is a lot of space to stop and cars go slow because of the roundabout. There seem to be a lot of buses passing through this busstop, but we quickly got a ride to Stavanger anyway.

An older lady took me to Lindenes fyr and then back to the main road to Stavanger.

Asked around and found a car going to Stavanger after trying with 3 cars

Good Spot. Easy to get a ride to the ferry or with a bit of Luck all the Way up to Haugesund or Bergen. Both times i hitchhiked from there i got a ride within 30-40 min. If you‘re coming from Stavanger it makes sense to take the Bus to out there.

In direction of Stavanger there is no place to stand after the roundabout, so we had to wait at the exit of gas station.

Good spot, decent traffic towards Stavanger, but I guess hitchiking died down a bit nowadays. We were very lucky to get a hitch all the way to Stavanger.

Bus stop for hitching south. A bit too much traffic for my taste, though. This might be your spot if you want to hitch from Stavanger or Sandnes southwards. If you're leaving Stavanger you may need to take a bus or train Sandnes and then walk to here (5 km from the centre. Fares are expensive but you can often get away without a ticket especially by bus.

we (3 boys) were heading towards stavanger. dont be shy to ask on the ferry, if you cant find someone on your ferry, wait for the next one.

There is not much space for cars to stop, but there is a lot of slow traffic and almost everybody is going west on the e39 towards Stavanger.

Perfect spot for going to Stavanger. It's a bus stop - much place for cars to stop, and they're not going that fast in here as it's just after the roundabout.

Very good spot towards Stavanger. There is a nice bus stop where cars drive slowly after roundabout, and you eliminate a lot of traffic going other places. Also a shop nearby!

Perfect place, you can try to ask for a ride to Bergen in the ferry, or if you want go to stavanger, ask at the car who wait the ferry.

Car drive slowly for take the roundtop, only 3 direction haugesund, stavanger or Bergen, you just need choise your road and wait after the round.

Bus stop on the main road to stavanger or Oslo easy to get a ride.

Direction: south To get south out of Stavanger is pretty hard but you can try also this bus station - it worked for me ... though there is lot of locals going to the city, it's on the E 39, so there are also people going through Stavanger more south ...

Direction: both Oslo and Stavanger There is a roundabout which slows down the cars and bus stops on both sides of it where there is enough space to pull off and they can also help you in case of rain.
