(Saturday) We met other hitchhikers there, one car stopped going to Katowice they took it. Another 20 later one more car stopped and we got also to Katowice.

Lot of traffic towards Katowice, Czechia, plenery of space for cars to stop

Found a small truck going to Katowice within 15min. Lots of local traffic as well so just need to be a bit patient. Around 9:30am on a Saturday morning, couple with sign and thumb. Walked here from bus stop before the junction, easy and safe 15min walk not on the highway.

Great spot, the traffic is constant, I hardly had time to even make my sign, the cars and trucks passing without pause. I had an offer to near Katowice within five minutes and took the second offer ten minutes later when they said they’d take me to the next big gas station. I was on my way to Berlin and I would say that this was the better spot than where they took me (Miejsce Obsługi Podróżnych Wirek). I took the city bus from Krakow, there is indeed a fence you have to jump. In the forest to the right of the gate (facing it) you can do so unseen. There’s a spot with a cement post that makes it a bit easier, and I took out my wrench and undid the top screws securing the fence to the post there, making it even easier. Lots of holes that have clearly been repaired, check to see if there’s a new one.

Was here after a lunch so already quite a few trucks were stopping for a day. And maybe here its better to ask just cars because there is quite a few. But still half of them goes to Katowice area. But eventually I got a guy to Warsaw and I think its better to not accept anything closer. Try to get at least past Czestochowa.

Not a lot of traffic but normal amount. Tho half of it goes to Ostrava. But eventually got a truck which was going to Katowice so asked to drop off at the gas station in Poland.

It was a monday midday. A lot of local traffic. A slovenian guy picked me up direction katowice. He was heading cz. Good spot because there is a lot of traffic but I had no luck.

It wasn't good traffic in the morning, I saw literally only one delivery van on parking on polish plates. I asked him and he gave me a ride directly to Katowice, could be Kraków if I would want.

I think this is the best spot towards Katowice after they finished all new roads constructions. For sure spots in Warsaw are worse than earlier. Got a ride to Katowice in about 25min on early Monday morning. Reachable with 733 bus.

Not a lot of cars, but opened 24/7. Take any ride that takes you closer to Katowice.

One of the best places to hitchhike near Katowice. We planned to go in the direction of Ostrava in the further Budapest and we managed to catch the driver to Vienna. Overall, a great place to catch a foot in the direction of Wroclaw, Berlin, Vienna. It is worth going to the parking lot and asking people where they are going - a lot of individual drivers and trucks.

This is obviously very bad spot - cars are "flying" on a highway, and those ones which are getting out of petrol station, just focusing on speeding up and join the traffic. However, even here is possible to hitchhike. Draw a big sign and be very patient and eventually you can get a ride very far. After two hours of waiting I got a direct ride to Katowice (~670km)

We got lucky very quick, only had to ask 3 people and the guy took us to katowice

I believe most traffic is going to the Katowice area, but Krakow is not too hard either. As of august 2025 the hole is still there just before the woods that are close to the exit.
