the road was not crowded at 11 am, but got a ride to Olsztyn pretty easily, quite a few cars with the Gdansk licence plates, so there is a possibility to get a ride to Gdansk directlyrating: 4/5, wait: 20 min, ride: 130 km ←

Perfect place for cathing a ride in the direction of Ek and further into Olsztyn. Plenty of space to stop a car and moderate traffic.―Anonymous, April 2016

Right after the turning to the right towards the lake there's a bus stop. Cars are going quite fast, but there's a pedestrian crossing that might slow it down sometimes. This spot was recommended to me by a friend from Olsztyn who aways hitches there. I had sign saying "Ostrda" and managed to get a ride atfer less than one minute; the driver going all the way to my destination, Bydgoszcz.―Anonymous, October 2015

Great stop on the way North. There is a big petrol station here(Statoil). Nearly no local traffic. Very easy to get long distance ride towards Olsztyn, Gdansk, Torun or Bydgoszcz. It's the first petrol station after crossin Vistula river, so easy to get here. And easy to leave:-)

Optima petrol station. Great spot to start HH towards North(Plonsk, Olsztyn, Gdansk, also Torun and Bydgoszcz). It's easy to get there. Just go to the last station of underground called Mlociny. Then take 114 towards Mlociny-UKSW. Get off at the Muzealna bus stop. Walk 150 m ahead towards Optima petrol station.
Ask drivers for a ride towards Plonsk(most of them go there) but not to the city - get out at the first petrol station after crossing Vistula river(Statoil). There You have only long distance rides - no local traffic:-)
In that way You can HH North despite weather and time (I did it during rain and even nights). Safe and fast!

A good spot to catch a ride to Ostroleka and from then either head West to Warsaw or North to Olsztyn -> Elblag -> Gdansk. Both cars and trucks can stop here. Been using this spot since 2004.―Anonymous, November 2014

A Shell petrol station with a restaurant, with many cars stopping on their way from Gdansk/Olsztyn to Warsaw. Please note, it is forbidden to hitch-hike on the express road: you must stand at the exit of the rest place and stop cars only leaving the petrol station/parking.―Anonymous, May 2014

Pretty good spot for those going in direction of Mlawa and Warszawa (Warsaw). There is a patrol station over here, and basically this is the last place you can hitch from Olsztyn. To get here you can take the bus from the city centre, cant recall the number though. Ask the driver for "Sloneczna, Kortowo", he should take you here.Estimated waiting time: 30 mins.

A good spot towards Warsaw. There is a petrol station here and enough place to stop before it.To get here, you can take the bus number 22 or 3 from the main Train Station or 9 from the centre (near the City Hall). Get off the bust 3 and 22 at the last stop and walk west downhill, until you reach the road to Warsaw.
From the bus 9 you need to get off at the first bus stop on Dybowskiego called Uniwersytet-Centrum Konferencyjne and walk for about 10 minutes along the road to Warsaw.
