Started very early with no cars, but a lot of cars coming out of Lisbon to the westernmost point of europe during the day and driving back in the evening

I guess luck - me + 1 arrived 11pm from Vigo on Sunday and when I was writing a sign I asked one driver who had took us to Lisbon later that night

It was mid-January and we were worried we might be stranded. We were originally trying to take a different route, but gave up and decided it would be easier to catch a ride to Lisbon and then head north from there. For some reason, military police were posted up at the traffic circle too, we were worried they might be scaring off our potential rides, but truthfully, we were in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, we got picked up by a German guy in a half-converted DHL van, which was a new one for us. Super cool guy, super cool van, he was headed to Sintra and dropped up north of Lisbon.

We got a ride to Lisbon by standing at the exit of the station.

Huge place to stop (with a no-way street) and people are going really slow at the exit of the roundabout. We got a ride to the petrol station on the A10 towards Lisbon.

We stood there with a Lisbon sign starting around 14:15 and also asked people. It’s a fairly small gasstation and it was a Sunday so even less cars were coming through but on busy days I would say it’s worth a shot. We gave up after maybe two hours and are now taking a Blabla car to badajoz.

A man took me here from Castelo Branco, he was very kind but this is not a very logical waiting spot towards Lisbon.
Foggy day, 2 hours of daylight left, i waited on this narrow provincial road to Gavião/Abrantes with curious cows staring at me, then realized the nearby bigger road goes also to Abrantes, tried to walk but darkness and cars driving fast made it unsafe. So after a total of 3 hours, i came back to this spot and walked in the dark, intermittent torch on my hand. The third car stopped and took me to Abrantes train station (7:30pm last one).
Thank you torch.

Direction Coimbra. I was not going there (to Lisbon instead) however a young Spanish couple in a van stopped on that lane to offer me help, despite i was waiting on the lane to the highway. They were driving the very first vehicle who passed by and after i declined, no one else stopped. And no one really drove through my lane, so i walked back to Abrantes direction national road till a man picked me up for some km.

I was going to Lisbon and came here from Castelo Branco northern district by Linha Azul bus (1€). You should drop off before this road intersection, you'll have to walk back longer otherwise.
I waited on the western side of this previously pinned point, facing Schreiber (look at the map).
After 20 minutes a spanish expat living in Coimbra picked me up. He's one of the many drivers avoiding the nearby highway. He dropped me near Vila Velha de Rodao where the road to Coimbra begins northwards. It was hard to leave that mentioned place, as no car enters the highway to Lisbon. So if you're here in Castelo Branco, make sure your driver doesn't take you to a village. Or choose a highway entrance.

Departure spot mainly to north (Fundao, Covilha) and you can also be offered Lisbon as destination, despite indications to it being on the entrance by the other side of the bridge and a more suitable way starts in Castelo Branco Sul (southern highway entrance). After 30 minutes they offered me Lisbon, then i had to wait one more hour to Alcains where a dutch expat dropped me towards the countryside. In case you get stuck in the afternoon you can opt for provincial buses to north by "Quinta da danca" stop 10 minutes away (walk Espanha direction then get down the bridge).

Good spot to get ride to Lisbon or Almada. Cars are going slow from the roundabout and there is place for cars to safely stop.

There's not many good spots to hitchhike in Ericeira, but we managed to catch a ride to Lisbon.
