We waited here for 3 hours but we were not trying to go somehwere really. We were 4 and basically we were just waiting for a train because it was pretty late evning. Also maybe it woudl be nicer to stand at the end of the town not in the middle of it. But there is a looooot of space to stop. But eventually somebody stopped and took was going to sibiu so we just agreed and went there because we didnt have any plan

Space for stopping isn't perfect as sometimes it's blocked by cars getting on main road but even so works quite well. I stood here with SB sign I got from previous driver but got lucky and got ride to Sebes. I think it's good spot for Sibiu after all

Litteraly in 3 minutes I got ride to Vulcea and my driver made me sign for Sibiu where I was heading next

We asked around the people for a ride to Brasov. Did not wait for too long. It is a good spot for all of the people to go to Sibiu, Balea or Brasov.

We walk down from Bâlea Lac (to Brasov) to this spot (since 11:00, meaning we waited 3 hours in total), on the way we tried to hitchhike to this spot. There were mamy cars passing by, but they never stopped. Fortunately we met someone who took us down the way to a crossroad between Brasov and Sibiu. He left us at the petrol station and also on the way he bought us a beer, such a kind man. Also we stopped to use the sign as many were passing by. It is better just to thumb up and tell them u go down the mountain. On the way we met a bear so it could be tricky walking down.

I was going around asking for Bucharest or Sibiu, found a truck leaving later, asked around a bit more, but it didn't work, so I took the truck.

After a year, I returned to this gas station. The story was similar, but it wasn't that late at night, and I managed to find a couple near Sibiu. Also, I met a pair of hitchhikers here, so it's likely a frequent spot. Overall, I believe this is a good spot for Sibiu and Bucharest.

Got extremely lucky with a ride by one of the first cars to pass by. Took us to Sibiu.

Good spot for outside of Sibiu. Got a ride tu Cartisoara, he even showed where the next good spot for Balea Lake is.

Good spot for Sebes or Alba Lulia. I had a sign Alba Lulia but the driver brought me to Sibiu so that was even better :)

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Sibiu to a very small place on the way to Râmnicu Vâlcea called Lazaret. The place is really good. Loads of space to stop. No shade. Good visibility. Not very busy traffic. Most cars were going either towards Brasov or Sibiu. Cars go slowly due to a roundabout. After (lucky) 13 minutes I got a lift to Lazarte.

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Sibiu to a very small place on the way to Râmnicu Vâlcea called Lazaret (successful). The place is really good. Loads and loads of space to stop (some sort of massive entrace to shops plus parking space). Cars go slowly coz it's after a roundabout. Good visibility. The traffic is much smaller than in the roundabout closer to the city. Which means many cars passing trough the other place stay in the city. So, I think this place here is better. There are actually two lanes. But the traffic was small that even the cars from the farther lane could pull over. No shade. After 10 minuts a French couple stopped and gave me a lift half way, to a roundabout just before Talmaciu (they were going to Brasov), where quickly I got a lift to my destination.

Two old guys picked us up, very nice people here. A lot of people returning from the mountains. We went to Victoria and then Sibiu.

Hitch hikes to Sibiu, there's a lot of people returning from the mountains, we went along the road to the highway and got picked up instantly.

Okay Spot to Go to Sibiu on the way to Bucuresti

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a cloudy day, drizzling. On my way from here to Sibiu. I finished hiking 3,5 kms south of this place. Initially I thought it'd be fairly easy to HH here. But the road which looked easy on the map turned out to be quite busy, main road, but physically narrow. I walked 3,5 kilometres when cars passed me by inches (no sidewalk, no nothing), splashing me with water (a huge pour down just finished), to find a first place where a car could pull over. The place is on the inside side of a curve, which means less visibility. But has enough space to stop. Bad thing was that cars were driving fast here. And, for some strange reason , coming in waves. So drivers had a split second to make the decision, with other cars just behind. Luckly for me after 25 minutes two friendly guys stopped and took me to Sibiu. Less than 1 kilometre up north, just after the railway bridge is a place which looks way better.

walked here from serbian border. very little traffic. got insanely lucky and drlve with american all the way to Sibiu. somewhere close to the point there's a bus station, you can stand there, but I walked and just turned around to each passing car
