After a few minutes of asking got a ride 150 km towards Niš, if you want to enter the station from outside like I did there is a little trail starting at 44.572519,20.648975 so no fences need to be climbed

I agree with the fuck ass spot comment, as there wasn’t much traffic, but we got a lift (in a taxi?!? For free!) Don to a station outside of Niš. Not much shade. Couldn’t see the tire :( Boy girl

Super good spot for getting out of Belgrade. We got the 461 bus and walked on the dirt roads next to the highway (few stray dogs that were territorial but not aggressive) and then climbed up where there was a small road underpass where there was no fence. Got scooped up and dropped halfway to Niš, you could probably wait until u get a car going all the way there Boy girl, sign for NIŠ

You cross the border on foot (possible in 2026) and walk towards this spot. Then wait for truck drivers and simply give them a thumbs-up. The Serbian truck driver gave me a 550km ride all the way to Niš. I did not wait more than 10min.

We haven‘t been very lucky. Had a sign to Niš and hoped that a lot of people would take the A1 in that direction. There is no shade. Eventually got taken to the Ikea, where we took a bus to the next Highway check point outside of Belgrad. That was a way better spot

Sign Nis/Sofia Literally the first car stopped. (Fancy BMW 7 series Limousine) Not much space for stopping tho so need to be fast. They only needed to go half way to Niš but drove me all the way. Helped diagnose their car and fix it at the gas station before Niš with a nice ice cream:) 1 male Friday

Took the Bus 493 from Sava Centre and asked the driver to drop me off here and he kindly did.(If they dont you can try at the on Ramp where the bus goes off the highway, its a good distance already and currently all public transport is free) There is no shade at this place. With Sign to Niš/Sofia a guy stopped after 10 Minutes and said 100km but went to another highway and dropped me off at the next gas station. Staying here to get a ride to Niš would have been easier. He shared his smoke with me tho so the rest was more fun:) 1 male

Solo female. I came from Niš and got dropped off by the first ride (truck) here since he had to stay on the highway I could've asked for a Kumanovo drop-off but thought maybe some cars there would head south and not to Skopje. In hindsight, I should've chosen the Lukoil on the highway just south of Kumanovo because it would have way more cars In contrast, this gas station doesn't get much traffic. I mostly signed to get the cars on the road behind this gas station, and only ran to the gas station when a car pulled up. Many cars either didn't stop or were full, some local/neighborhood traffic. It was a Sunday FYI Eventually got picked up by a Macedonian couple and they dropped me off at a mall 30min walk from the center

Solo female. Asked around for Skopje but many cars were going to Bulgaria or were full (with kids/pets/grandparents). Maybe because it was a Sunday during the summer But idk if there's another spot near Niš that could be easier, since there's no gas stations on the southbound highway until almost Vranje Eventually found a big truck who dropped me off just outside of Skopje because he had to stay on the Ring Road highway

Solo female. Asked around for Niš and got a ride after asking less than 5 cars. It was a very nice car haha

fuckass spot, noone would stop, traffic is good, but most cars were completaly full, then 2 stray dogs pulled up and I started petting them, i suppose this boosted my aura and we managed to get a ride to Niš

Excellent spot if you go north to Niš and Belgrade. Waiting time 5-10-20min.

Before that, the guy took me to a place a couple of kilometers away where there's a toll road with a fork to Belgrade and Niš. I had to walk to that place. It's unlikely you'll end up here, but it's a good location. I found a car right to Niš, which is where I needed to go.

This place was perfect to go to Serbia. Someone took me to Niš. My last destination was Belgrade, but from Niš to Belgrade was easy as well

I had a cardboard with NIŠ -> SOFIA sign but it didn't help much. What it helped it was asking the truck drivers if they would take me.

Finally a hitch to niš

Good spot to hitch, I was going back to niš I took a hitch to pečenjevec. Which was probably a mistake timewise, but I ended up drinking with a Roma and a Serbian man in the small town so it paid off, dont take a hitch to one of the smaller towns west of the highway if you are tight on time and want to get to Niš

2 persons. Started hitchhiking in the direction of Niš. After about 10 minutes, I got a ride to Autokomanda, which is a much better spot to hitch from.
