2 people. We spent evening and next morning there trying to get a lift. Local guy told us that it should be easy and we can use sign „hacia valencia”. But in reality it was different. Enough space to stop for a driver near roundabout and if you go further as well. Neighbourhood is quite nice, lots of shops like leroy merlin, lidl (we slept in a tent on the parking there) - you can find whatever you want to. Finally we got a lift, half of a way to Alicante . To sum up, maybe depends on your luck. Write a comment if you use this place and tell something about your observations.

Not ideal but probably the best option to get out of the Alicante area north or south. Hitchhiking to here is easier than public transport imorating: 4/5, wait: 70 min 🪧, ride: 115 km ↙

We spent the night at this gas station camping at the end of the trucker field. Quite a nice place to camp, noone bothered us. Next morning we started hitching at the petrol station at 8 am. The people here were super friendly. It's a great station to get on the other side of Paris without entering the city. We did this quite well as we found two nice people who took us al the way to Alicante.rating: 5/5, wait: 40 min 💬+🪧

This is an amazing gas station for:Murcia, elche, alicante and almansa!
There’s a big gas station and big parking area with a few restaurants.
I got here and found a truck for elche in no time. There’s a considerable amount of people coming and leaving.
The only trucks that will go to valencia from here are trucks that had to unload in a place nearby before so it’s less common.
To get to valencia, this isn’t so good as you might think, because the main highway for valencia is up north.
You can try your luck hitching from here to valencia, or you can hitch a ride from here to 12km AFTER almansa where you have the *most amazing* service station in which you can get a lot of rides to valencia and even to Barcelona.

Good spot to go to Valencia or Alicante, lots of space for cars to stop, traffic is slow enough to notice you. Just make sure you have a sign :)rating: 5/5, wait: 20 min 🪧

July 2016Summer 7pm
A lot of traffic in line to get into the "Autopista" I had a big sign to go to Alicante. After one hour of cars passing by, a couple of brothers that stopped in the gas station (not the ones in line to the autopista) saw me and talked to me. They gave me a lift until Benissa (in the middle of nowhere).

I have to say that this was my worst experience doing hitchhiking here. A couple of brothers thought that it would be good idea to get a lift in this "Peaje" because a lot of drivers pass through it and from this place, is the only way to go to Alicante. It was in summer when I did it, and there are a lot of English people who own a summer house in that region of Spain. Reach people with fancy cars who won't even think in the possibility to give you a ride. It was a little bit late when I started to ask for a lift, but my hope ended up at midnight because nobody stopped. I was hungry but there’s no store or restaurant near there. I started to look for a place to sleep and I speeded the night on the pavement of a road. I’m in shock after this situation. I just can’t believe how selfish and indifferent can the people be.―Tavo S., August 2016

If you are patient enough, this is a good spot towards the south. Once got direct lift to Crdoba in about 1 hour. Other times Albacete and Alicante in about the same time.―Anonymous, July 2015

Very good place to hitchhike North to Alicante. A lot of traffic, cars passing slowly after the roundabout, enough place for cars to stop. Got a ride in 15minutes with a cartoon "Alicante". Walk 100m after the roundabout on the other side of the safety barrier.―Anonymous, January 2015

Check which road your driver is taking. I had a mix up and ended up in Elx instead of Alicante and had to head backwards―StrawHatCob, November 2012
