There is a stop Light, where cars nee to stop, so you can throw your thumb out and walk along the cars to wait for a positive reaction. Just by the stoplight is also a big paper bin, where you can take some cardboard from to make a sign. I Made one direction León, (Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Burgos). After around 10 Stoplight phases a guy took me to Arrasate/Mondragon near Vitoria.rating: 4/5, wait: 15 min 🪧, ride: 61 km ↙

I don’t how you people autostop from here. I’m sure it’s possible but just tell me the way. It’s a big road with a looot of cars that don’t have where to stop nor how to see you. On top of that when you go to Madrid the cars nearest to you are not going there so you won’t pick anyone near you. The only idea I had was to ask people on the red light, but as I said it would be people on the middle of the road and I didn’t want to risk being there when the light turns green. I’m disappointed I tried both ways out of Burgos to Madrid and both are bad, I’ll have to take a bus :(rating: 1/5, wait: 40 min, ride: 288 km ↓

Got a ride to Burgos pretty quickly. You need to have a large sign, because cars are a bit fast in the roundaboutrating: 5/5, wait: 20 min, ride: 105 km ↙

Good to go north, lots of place for cars to stop (also, great places to sleep with your tente nearby 😉)However, if you want to go to Burgos, Madrid, or others cities on the west or south, you should go on the west of the city

A lot of space for cars to stop, end of Vitoria heading for Burgos at first seems very very nice, but the reality is that waiting time is quite long and there's a lot of local traffic (for example to Miranda).HOWEVER, my friend and I had huge luck - we stopped a car going to Guarda, Portugal, through Burgos, Valladolid and Salamanca. This was probably like winning a lotery (we were heading for Lisboa), but it happened.
Good luck!!!

Waited about 2 to 3 hours to get to Burgos. A lot of traffic, but big part was local. Nobody picked me up, in the end someone gave me the advice to walk down the road to another gasstation.Lots of police past by and didn't bother me once so no problem with that either.

First tried a sign with Madrid, then a sign with Burgos. Waited about 1,5 hours until someone gave me a ride to Miranda de Ebro.Cars here drive slow and there is space to stop, although there was a lot of local/regional traffic. Maybe just bad luck.

A place to get a ride direction north (Santander). There's a gas station nearby, too.
There are two roads going up to Santander, following slightly different routes... both from this spot, and perhaps from the gas station, you'll find cars going up.
On a Sunday morning there was plenty of cars passing this spot, I had a sign to Santander, and in 10min got the first ride that took me some 30km up.
Can't say though if it's a good spot at anytime... it looks ok, not great but ok.
It's a warehouse and fields kind of area... not much there, but easy to reach walking out from Burgos.
I came walking from little roads behind the castle hills, if you come along the main road, maybe there's other good spots before that.
