like a perfect spot to umeå/luleå full of traffic, cars are getting slowly and u can be easily seen (+place to stop) get a sign !! most of them are getting north so u get full of chances :) wish u the best it’s will work 100%🫡

worst spot ever to go north (even if the spot looks nice and space to spot/stop) i wait almost 7h without a big lift to umeå i got a sign but all of them were just doing little distance or going south that was really hard i recommend to get on a car directly when i gets half of the distance to umeå good luck if u wanna try to go north 🥲 (ps: i wasn’t especially strange but idk that time it just didnt work)

Got my yearly dose of rejection there today, horrible spot, cars are to fast, no way to stop and people look at u as if ur E.T./the scum of the earth, not a great place. I honestly don't know how to go South from Umeå

Got a ride to Umeå almost instantly after asking a few people at the gas station. Probably even better in the daytime.

Had to wait a while before getting a ride to Umeå. Asking at the four gas stations next to the spot might be better.

Got chased on my walk to the road by a guy who took me here on my way to Umeå, much easier to get rides here than in Sweden I think

Coworker of last guy gave me a ride to a “good spot” nearby his place because he was going home and may as well have taken me. Technically not a “spot”, but I got a ride? Not sure if I should register this. But on the other hand these truckie guys all said it’s pretty bad going towards Umeå from Östersund.

I might’ve been lucky, but a long ass truck stopped for me there and I had my longest ride so far with one truck, though they did change drivers in Umeå (almost 900km from Piteå to Örebro).

Only local traffic, but after an hour got a ride through to Umeå

Wasn't even asking around, older man just stopped as he noticed my flag and hitchhiked before. I kept my options – Umeå, Västerås and Uppsala – open, but couldn't reject this offer with my nearly dead battery and a place to stay in Uppsala too. Man used to be a hitchhiker, so he knew what it meant.

Easy free ride out of ume, hitching from ume is waste of time and this option is recommended. Get on any train that goes to hörnefors which is next stop south after umeå östra. Go to the other side of the train from staff and they will not have time to check ur ticket. (If they would, just get off at hörnefors anyways, they might get mad but won't do anything.

This spot is also good to go north despite other spots in the north of Umeå might be more convenients It is worth walking down to the A4 roundabout 1 km further south, Many lorry drivers coming from South will stop at this petrol station despite the fact that there is another petrol station northbound. Those were heading to Russia. the reason is that the other petrol station is considered to be rubbish!
