There is a small lane to pullover. If you find yourself here, You will only see local traffic. Or cars going to Biel. Take a ride with one of those cars. Go to the gas station "Grauholz" in Ittigen, It is the biggest rest stop / "raststätte". From there you can Hitchike to Basel,Biel and Zürich easily. If you cross the autobahn, which is possible by walking the overhead bridge. You can go south (Fribourg, Lausanne...) from the otherside easily.

this spot right before the vet (tierklinik) is decent. if i am in lenzburg and am trying to get onto a1 i use this spot. with a "zürich" sign i waited 15 min. i did it once with a "basel" sign with 2 people and it took 45min. it's harder to get a ride in the direction of basel on the highway since most are going in the direction of zürich.

Easy to get a ride because the cars slow down for the roundabout. Easy to get to Basel/mulhouse, not far destinations.

I had a sign saying "Basel". I wanted to go to the Pratteln service station to stay on the swiss A2 highway. Got picked up by a guy driving to Brugg. He said he was going through Basel, so I took the ride, but actually he went through Lörach. Be aware that there are two entries into Switzerland! Make sure the guy is going the way you want.

not crazy busy, with most traffic to bern. if like me you're trying to go to basel, it's tricky but look out for lucerne (LU) license plates. some international cars (D/I/A/B/NL).

Got a ride in 30s to Basel!

Not a lot of space to stop but it works. I got a ride to Basel. Recommend to us a sign as it goes direction to Lausanne, Fribourg and Basel.

sunday morning and afternoon, almost no traffic, after 4 hours got a lift to Basel airport

traffic mostly going to switzerland via basel, however i can't think of another option for france. can be a bit of a wait to get someone who goes at least to belfort and can drop you on the porte d'alsace. it's worth the wait. male, early 30s, alone

Good spot to go west but we wanted to go backward to Basel and it didn't work, nobody went the other side. So we took a ride to the péage si we can change side. Thanks Baptiste.

I was there twice on my way to France. It´s very easy to get a ride in the right direction, so great Spot. Hitchhiking further into France I always got stuck up in Mulhouse, so maybe it´s worth trying over Basel or waiting fore someone who brings you to a gas station, not some roundabout near Mullhouse.

Good spot in summer. Don't know why was full pf switzerland cars. A german girl drop me at basel

While on a pit stop on my way to Basel, scared of not being able to cross to France, decided to ask the two (french) cars next to me if they would give me a ride. One did to Mulhouse. This gas station did seem to have more French cars than others, so probably good for that (also lots of Swiss). Solo female.
