Direction Kharkiv/Poltava - this is the last stop of Marshutka 317. Lot of place to stop and two gas stations.―Anonymous, February 2016

We (2 guys) stopped a car after a short while that promised to take us to Kharkiv after an hour. Unfortunately the driver didn't come back, so we started hitchhiking again and found a ride to Poltava instead. You can try to use a sign if you want to go further.―Ans, May 2013

Fine road junction. Truck from Poltava turn right towards Sumy at this point. Plenty of local traffic in all directions. Still I wouldn't be walking here from Opishne.---

Scarce traffic, be prepared to walk a distance. There is a bus Poltava to Ochkanivka.---

Important road junction: most of the traffic is transit Poltava to Kharkiv, also occasionally somebody goes from Karlivka to Chutove. Visibility good in both directions. Speed is high, however.---

Quite possible to hitchhike towards Poltava (bus stop is nearby), however the speed is high and visibility is somewhat limited.---

Exit towards Kharkiv, unfortunately not so easy from Poltava. You can stay near the gas station, there is no other place, and the speed is pretty high. If you'd like to go uphill, nobody will stop at all!---

Broad highway crossing a village (speed limit 60 km/h), occasionally heavy traffic. It is possible to reach Poltava, but I don't recommend this location.---

Major road exits the town at this point, no need to go downhill towards the bridge. I've been lucky with a truck driver directly to Poltava.---

Noticeable road junction. Useful for both Poltava and Kotelva. Some traffic turns to Krotenky, however some heavy trucks go straight into the forest, to the sandpit.---

Main location to go towards Kotelva (few people go directly to Sumy though). Don't walk further since the road is narrow and there is a swamp. Traffic is ok for such a secondary road, however a bit complicated with a major railway crossing on the exit from Poltava (no cars when closed, and then 15-20 cars in a row).---

Nothing special about this village (Stepne). But the road is paved and local traffic is fine, morning to evening. Possible to get a ride or a bus to Poltava.---

Krasongradsky povorot (Krasnohrad turn), a good spot for hitchhiking in all 3 directions - Krasnohrad, Kharkiv, Poltava, even at night. Lonely gas station.---

From Poltava to Kharkiv. Easily accessible cross-road location, public transportation and McDonald's are also there. But sometimes plenty of local hitchhikers and the occasionally heavy traffic tends to speed up rather than stop.
