You can catch the X22 bus here from Birmingham central, and I got picked up by the first car that went past heading north

Mi ne havus tempon, mi devis iri al Afriko por volontuli ĉe la Monda Kongreso de Esperanto en Arusha, feliĉe la komunumo helpis min kun la bileto, mi kaptus la unuan aviadilon el Dublino post malpli ol 48 horoj. Ĝi valoris esti gajninta iom da mono en Londono dum pli ol monato.

I've stopped here twice while hitchhiking south from Scotland to London. First time got a ride to Birmingham, and the second time to London. Both pretty quickly. Plus the services are comfortable, with free toilets, charging sockets etc. I would definitely stop here again when looking for a longer-distance ride.

Lots of cars stopped but most were going to Birmingham or up the M6. I was hoping to get onto the M1 but gave up and went up the M6

It's an alright spot with space. Most cars do go to Bham though so you'll have to be lucky to find one that takes you north. Only got a short ride from there but it was enough to take me further away from Birmingham.

Very good spot for getting picked up. Had just hopped out some freak's car (see red dot near Cullman, Al) and had a sob story. Asked around for a lift, was offered money and got a lift from a friendly trucker to Birmingham

Great spot ! Quite a lot of car are exiting the station, with low speed. Better having a sign to know if you to go Leceister or Birmingham

Great spot as the trafic light let you time to eye contact the drivers. Perfect to go North/Birmingham. Car can stop along the road.

Heading to Birmingham, busy place, lots of lorries.

Direction Burton-on-Trent / Lichfield / Birmingham. A lot of cars and trucks, mostly going fast but thanks to high traffic they often slow down. Very visible spot.

After we made a boards withh M1 - SOUTHH somebody finally stopped, but we separated with hme friend and she HH at theh roundabout whhile i waited hhere with th amazingly cute bunnies!!! :-D the funniest thing that we started in birmingham and wanted to reach Luton... (oh jeah our previous driver doesnt know whhere is London probably...)

Going South, we got a ride to Birmingham after 1h i guess on a tuesday around 6pm, a couple with big backpacks. Good visibility and space to pull over, police didn't bother us :)

I wanted to reach Birmingham and I waited here 1 hour, but if you are patient, it's a good place and people can drop you further on the motorway !

[NORTHBOUND ENTRANCE LAYBY ON A40] [A40 -> M40 NORTH] This is a good strategic location, all the traffic from the A312 joins the A40 northbound here and there is a layby on the sliproad so traffic can stop. It took a matter of seconds to find a hitch going to Birmingham from here. There is a Texaco petrol station on this side of the roundabout and a McDonald's. The attendant in Texaco was happy for me to hitch from the petrol station itself. Several buses connect the roundabout with Hounslow (120) and Heathrow Airport/Harrow (140,) It is also a 0.6 mile walk to Northolt Tube station which is on the Central Line.

[A38 EASTBOUND] It took a matter of seconds holding up a "DERBY :)" sign in order to get me a hitch there on a recent sunny weekday afternoon. This spot is a safe 1.9 mile walk from Lichfield Trent Valley Station, well connected to Birmingham and the West Coast Main Line. One thing to be wary of is that the layby is not long after the brow of a hill and traffic is moving quickly so it's advisable to stand closer to the exit of the layby so as to allow traffic the time to stop.
