Direction Derby. Very visible spot, cars often going quite fast but they can easily stop at the bus stop.―Anonymous, August 2016

Also note that if you walk through a field at the coach park end of the services you will reach a bus stop on the regular 24hr Skylink route linking Derby and Leicester with East Midlands airport, it is about £4 for a single ticket to either destination (2013)―Willochrome, June 2013

[A38 EASTBOUND]It took a matter of seconds holding up a "DERBY :)" sign in order to get me a hitch there on a recent sunny weekday afternoon. This spot is a safe 1.9 mile walk from Lichfield Trent Valley Station, well connected to Birmingham and the West Coast Main Line. One thing to be wary of is that the layby is not long after the brow of a hill and traffic is moving quickly so it's advisable to stand closer to the exit of the layby so as to allow traffic the time to stop.

Maybe it was luck, but I got an almost instant ride to Derby from a guy that stopped to pick me up at the bus stop.rating: 5/5
