Solo Femme wheelchair user. Good spot for cars to pull off into the lorry bit. Got an offer from a lorry driver in under 5 minutes, but he was only going as far as Blackpool. After like 6 more minutes I got a lift from a driver going up to Glasgow, I only took it as far as Abington because I'm heading Edinburgh way. Great spot, good visability as cars see you as they pull into to the car park and then again when they pull out. Had a sign saying 'North'

Very little traffic on here I probably saw maybe 10 or 15 cars the whole time I was here, though I was here 11am on a workday. Got picked up by a German couple who took me all the way to Edinburgh!

Would recommend this spot over the other slip road onto the M6 from Carlisle, in the north, I went there first and it’s near impossible to get on without walking down a busy road. I went here after and it’s much more chill, just walk straight onto the slip road, took me a while to get a lift but eventually two lads took me all the way to Edinburgh so just hold tight and eventually you’ll get a lift

Best spot for heading East of Edinburgh. Lots of bins for cardbord

Quite large gas station. But pretty bad for direction Glasgow. I think I got a mercy ride out of here, but I think you are much better when heading towards Edinburgh or Stirling.

Gas stations are the gold standard and this is a good one. Not the biggest one, but still decent. There is a safe path from the city directly to here. I got a ride to Edinburgh.

I just came out of the gas station and a car with Belgian license plates pulled over to me and asked, if they can bring me somewhere. Long story short, got a ride directly to Edinburgh. Great spot, ask around the parking lot.

The traffic gets backed up here because of the lights and giving way. Enough time to quickly hop in and get on the M8. I got a lift with a lorry to just outside Edinburgh

A truck driver leant out the window and shouted “(something)(something) Livuhpeewl”. I couldn’t understand through the thick scouse accent. He might’ve been going to Liverpool. Along with every other driver for the next three hours. I abandoned my Edinburgh sign as the sun was setting and finally thumbed a lift to Glasgow before I gave up hope

Nice spot to catch a ride south. Got lucky they were going all the way to Edinburgh

People usually go north from here as it seems, but got lucky with a young German guy going right to Edinburgh

Great spot, maybe got lucky but a delivery driver took me trait to edinburgh. The only problem is getting here if you haven't just got drop of because the closest train station is 5km but still not bad.

Lot of people going in Edinburgh's direction, plus you have a service station nearby.

Easy ride, if I need to reach Glasgow/Edinburgh or even further down to England (sometimes lucky to reach destination by only one car). Or stand on opposite side of the road, if heading to Oban/Fort William.

It's a complicated spot for HH because the cars have space to edge one side... Very important to have a Sing !!!, I wait just 7 minutes with a sing to Edinburgh.

Not the safest HH spot, but still good towards Edinburgh or Glasgow. Just walk a little bit outwards from the roundabout. Got a ride to Edinburgh after 5 minutes! AdrianB

For going into Edinburgh, there is nowhere for cars to stop. Only option looks like bus stop, and anything but traffic for South Queensferry has to be in an outer lane so they are not going to have time to change lanes to get to bus stop. Maybe possible to hitchhike from roads leading to roundabout further up, but still not great, and there were roadworks making it harder when I was there recently.

to Edinburgh

hhike direction edinburgh, get a lift directly there in about 30 minutes. there is a small road on the roundabout.. looks pretty good.. lot of space to stop and people go slowly... u can walk there from the town.. +-30minutes walk

hhiked in the night.. didnt get a lift.. if u go one mile to east.. u fid a coop and morrisons in birtley.. if u cross the road via footbridge.. just go to the small forest.. was a safe spot to sleep... in the morning get ride in 30 minutes to berwick.. might try write edinburgh also.
