15 minute wait for a ride and tour around glasgow

rating: 4/5, wait: 15 min 👍

Perfect spot to head any direction as it's the crossroads of the Highlands.
Drivers can see you from a good distance and go around the roundabout very slowly. Lift to Glasgow within 5 minutes.

We managed to get a ride to Glasgow from someone who was in the ferry with us.

Easy ride, if I need to reach Glasgow/Edinburgh or even further down to England (sometimes lucky to reach destination by only one car). Or stand on opposite side of the road, if heading to Oban/Fort William.

Great spot, good opportunity for drivers to stop in the driveway, catching most traffic leaving for William. Lots of destinations here (Oban, Glasgow,...)

Not a good spot for drivers to stop (even though its possible), at least if you want to get to Glasgow.

rating: 2/5, wait: 45 min

The second driver that i asked gave me a lift to Glasgow. There is enough traffic at the petrol station. Good spot to find somebody to Glasgow.

Not the safest HH spot, but still good towards Edinburgh or Glasgow. Just walk a little bit outwards from the roundabout. Got a ride to Edinburgh after 5 minutes! AdrianB

Heading to Glasgow, it's little bit dangerous getting there from the services but if you get there, there is a perfect spot where the car can stop.

Took me a long time to get a lift! Three hours waiting from 1700 on a Monday... Eventually got a lift heading South by talking at the gas pumps. Still probably the best option for getting out of Glasgow.

The two of were Hithching to Gleoncoe and got a ride in 15 minutes by a Audi quattro convertible. The guy was driving through the glen 100 mph and we had a sunny day! It was the best drive of my life. :D
We got here for free because of the friendly employees at the Queen street railway station in Glasgow!

We waited 5 min to get a lift to glasgow directly. A lot of cars and a place to stop after the roundabout.

Great spot, got a ride north easily with a sign saying M40 where I could easily keep hitching all the way to Glasgow

Petrol station on the main road to Fort William. 20-30 minutes walk from Kelvingrove. We (one guy one girl) accepted a ride to Erskine after 20 minutes. Longer rides must be possible, but even just Erskine is a good start; better than waiting in Glasgow! When you leave Glasgow, you will find that the A82 has many good spots to wait.

Not that much time for cars to see you coming off the roundabout, but i've hitched from here to glasgow before and it worked ok, and there's a parking spot for vehicles to stop in.

Just after the garage, just before the bus stop...
Good place to get a lift to Glasgow or Stirling (and beyond) - you can hitch to traffic on the main road and traffic coming out of the petrol station too, and there's space for cars to stop in the bus stop/lane

Not perfect but best place i've found for heading east out of Glasgow.

heading SOUTH from here with a sign (for edinburgh or fife) is a better idea than trying to hitch from Broxden roundabout at the start of the M90. But if you don't have a sign you may have to refuse lifts from people headed for Glasgow/stirling
