On the way to Oxford.. when heavy traffic, you can get someone on traffic lights

Stood by the BP petrol station, took about 30 minutes to get a lift towards Oxford on the A43.

I asked the people at the petrol station for a lift. The majority of them were locals. So I had to wait for 40 min until someone took me directly to Oxford.

Nice spot, spent around 5min saturday early morning and got a ride to Oxford (so not exactly the main cars' target probably). Might have been luck, but on the other hand many cars were passing me.

Not an ideal spot, but got us to Oxford in a short enough amount of time, so I can't complain.

Got a lift half of the way to Oxford in ten minutes.

Excellent spot for going South on A34 - hatched markings for a car to stop safely; 50mph limit; a lot of traffic from A420 and Oxford (including Seacourt Park and Ride)

The point is great for hitching towards Oxford/Birmingham (M40) or M25 - also, there is a hatched-marking section, where a car can stop to pick you up even when the traffic is heavy. Always stand with a sign stating your destination, as a lot of traffic goes round M25. Also, there is an OxfordTube bus stop nearby, so you can always take the bus if you are really stuck.

A40 Eastbound truck stop. This is a fantastic place to get a lift to the South, as most M40-Southbound traffic from Oxford goes past this truck stop.

Oxford Services - used by motorway (M40) and local traffic (A418) in all directions.

Great spot to get towards Oxford/Birmingham, even though it's quite hard to get there from London
