Waited for close to two hours there with and without a sign reading ‘Kutaisi’ in both languages. Not much room for cars to pull over but many do (to pick up their relatives etc) and buses as well. Not much traffic but Matshukas come every 30min or so in the worst case. Eventually got a dude to take me to Khashuri

A pretty decent spot, and the ride was pretty fast by Seden standards. I stood here with a ride reading Helsingborg and got off at a gas station in front of the city.

As a solo woman, a two hours waiting time is really bad. I made a mistake while reading the map and hitchhiked there to go to Clermont-Ferrand / Lyon. There were many cars going to Bordeaux but almost none was going North. I think it is not worth taking the motorway to go to Clermont-Ferrand when starting there. This is why the cars do not use the motorway there (too expensive) and why I waited so long. I was lucky to have old friends going in the direction of Paris on that day, otherwise I think I might have stayed 4 hours there. It might be a good spot for Bordeaux / Spain. Please comment if this works.

Started hitchhiking in the afternoon with a sign reading Split and a Slovenian guy took us all the way to Zadar where he offered us that he'll drive us to Zagreb the next day (it was late when we got to Zadar) which we happily accepted

We had a sign reading "SEA" as we wanted to get to the seaside and a young lady took us almost immediately

Do not go here along the highway - the cars go slow but there is not enough space for pedestrians. We got there thanks to a local who saw us standing with a sign reading Sarajevo on the branching from the main road a took us here, before the toll booth. Then we waited some 10 minutes before a car stopped so overall a good spot

We put up a sign reading Sarajevo and a guy stopped immediately and offered to take us half the way to Zenica (which we accepted of course)

After reading the comments idk I guess this place is just a hit or miss. Got here around 6 PM and tried asking around a bit, stood by the exit, and stood in front of the gas station for about 3 1/2 hours and had no luck. The place is beautiful though so I camped by the lake and tried again next morning. Next morning I waited another 3 hours until someone offered to take me near Wien/Vienna. There was a good amount of people in the morning but idk they didn’t really care to see or look at me lol. So yeah I think my luck was dwindling and you might have a better experience than me. I think it’s still worth to hitchhike here as one of the primary spots people stop at and head towards east potentially.

At a border checkpoint, I arrived late in the day and was asking around at the nearby truck stop. You can definitely find somebody there, but I had no luck. After that, I stood at the beginning of the highway with a sign reading "Arad," just to move to a better station, and after about 20 minutes, a very nice guy brought me there.

Waited right before the gas station so that cars could pull over easily. Had a sign reading “Elbasan/North Macedonia”. Took me a while (an hour and a half) to find a driver to Elbasan. I also tried the second roundabout right before the highway but turned back because the cars were driving too fast. Also, easily accessible from the airport so it’s possible to rest and use the restrooms.

Ideally placed to get out of Podgorica, towards Albania. I stood right after the roundabout, there was room for the cars to pull over and even some shade from the road sign. I had a sign reading “Albania”. Had to wait quite a bit but going to Tirane that was worth the wait.

All London spots are a bit naff, this one got me out to reading somewhat quickly

Heading to Europe, had a sign saying London. Good spot opposite the gas station, lots of traffic, very visible, space to stop. Got a lift in 15 minutes with a car heading into London. Got off in Slough - bad decision! Should have got off at Reading services.

hey to whoever is reading this,am yasser and am 17y this trip started in a bus station near iberia i took bus number 5, it was nice anyways i was planning to go to the beach for a swim the bus stopped at medouna, i walked down to the beach anyways when i finished i went up to the top the place where all the tourists were anyway i knew no one would pick me up there so i kept walking where there was no cars parked nearby and it was just the road for cars i waited around 11 min no one stopped many hesitated because i looked like a mess lol i just came back from the beach so understandable, eventually a car stopped and i wentin with him because it was only one possible route then i asked him where he will turn etc he dropped me off near rmilat from there i didntreally try to hitchhike that place is horrible for hitchhiking i do not recommend it at all i walked all the way home after that around 15km lol

BOAT HITCHHIKING: Followed guidance from hitchwiki to find a boat to pursue my trip. Marina is definitely the place to be and regularity at the morning coffee time is the key! I was too late on the season for my original plan (heading East towards mainland), but after a rebranding of my ad on the bulletin board, I found a captain doing the Bash towards California. I spent with Lucian 10 days sailing, great captain patient with the rookie I am, learning me about reading the wind and the sea.

Gas station and medium to low traffic. Staff helped me to build and write a small sign. Lovely people and then the showed me pictures of prior hh that stopped there. Funny shit! I only use the sign to show that I want to go somewhere. Ususally it's not thaaat helpful as many drivers have trouble reading it or just don't care. I ended up speaking to a few people and they agreed to take me. Horrible ride as one of them smelled like a homeless person (nothing against the poor) and the driver was watching TikToks (chinese version) on full blast. They refused to drop me at the city entrence and took me too far.

The bride is easy to access by foot if you stopped for the night in Golden. (there's a cheap hostel there) Got my ride from Monique as I just got on the bridge. Spotting the avalanche risks for the railway, she was able to tell me a lot about the mountains that surrounded us along the way. She taught me a little about reading the snow on mountains and we did a few pictures as well.

It’s not great, but it’s Italy. And with it being Italy, it’s actually pretty good! I got there in the afternoon in late January, with a sign reading “Verona”. I barely got any looks from passing cars, in all the time I was then I think it was two waves at most. But after 45 minutes, Michaela and her young son offered me a ride to Desenzano. As we were driving, her son who spoke English would translate between us, to save me the horror of my broken Italian. She decided that she absolutely refused to drop me at a service station to continue hitching, not because it was dangerous in her eyes, but because she thought it would take too long! In her eyes, she wanted to take me all the way to Verona, so the best she could do was invite me to her home for lunch, and buy me a train ticked to Verona! After countless refusals on my behalf, I finally gave in to the hospitality, and had the loveliest afternoon. “I’ve never had anything like this happen when hitching before!” “You’re in Italy now.”
