Good spot to get onto the Autobahn. Not so good to get a ride because lots of different possible directions and lots of families travelling. But loads Of people to ask. Very helpfull to speak german there. Got taken only a few km to the next service area. Two male hitchhikers Summer 2025

Impossible to go to Budapest from here. Waited for 1 hr, and walked 5 km to the end of Fishamend, from where easily got to Budapest with 2 rides and 20 min total waiting time. Highly recommend doing the same and not wasting time near airport

Noone took me after more Or less 3 hours. Most of people go to g3 or to center of viena.

I asked the first person if he could take me to Germany. He was super kind (a croatian man) and he gave me a great ride to Rosenheim

for anywhere in czechia or poland, this is a spot for ambition!

Hitched from there to take the bus at the nearby village, Markt St. Martin. its different from time to time. one time i waited 10 minutes, another time i gave up. once get a ride to vienna from there, waiting 15-20 mins. All without sign. I standed in front of the crosswalk. so people have to notice you because it seems that you want to cross.

just go along the road and ask around where most of the people are. i decided to do something stupid and went to Vienna by foot, which took me 14 hours, but at this place you get a ride just by existing. cross the border.

got picked up instantly. ez to go to brno. wasn't very picky that day, but you can go directly to prague.

free toilet. i was actually taken by austrian police and brought to cz border. lovely ladies. usual traffic: meh, I wouldn't really hope for this place, but it is what it is.

gets all mcdonalds and reststop trafic that goes to A5. pretty chill.

do not go here. i was saved by an angel sent by god. DO NOT GO HERE.

only a few PL/H/CZ cars passed and everyone ignored me. this roundabout is not a truly convenient place for drivers to stop, I would personally stay at the separate lane a bit earlier.

in theory this is the best you got in order to escape the north of Vienna (hell) workday morning was very tough, but I persevered and reached Prague in 6 hours even with horrible luck. please ask to take you to gas stations, direct rides to brno or prague are very unlikely.

go further. you'll get more traffic from turning lanes. morning on a weekday is tough.

just go down the road for 5 more minutes. there's more space to stop, more traffic and more visibiluty. at this point most cars are still grumpy austrian grannies who are driving to the shopping mall.

It wasn't good traffic in the morning, I saw literally only one delivery van on parking on polish plates. I asked him and he gave me a ride directly to Katowice, could be Kraków if I would want.

There was border control by austrian police, so I came by foot and hitchhiked after it. In first second the police wasn't happy about me crossing border on foot on a highway. After some talk it was okay for them that I would stay on small parking on the right side. It took 10min to catch a ride to next Shell station.

mostly to Austria. spacious lane to stop at. just wait until your lovely vienna ride. I went to the border cause i wanted to stroll.

I actually had little hope for this place, because the fuel station looks very old and gets little traffic, but if you stay BEFORE it and hold the sign/thumb as much visible as possible, your ride will stop and get you to Austria. Would recommend, but it is firther than a shopping mall 3.6km before (to the north)

Traffic here is pure dogshit. If you are brought here and willing to go to South (Austria) ask to drop you further at "obchodni centrum futurum" (7 km along E50 and to the right). I've never went over 60 minutes in my career, but this place is smth.

I wasted a lot of time looking for a direct ride to austria, so stay with BRNO and there change to an international traffic. to get everyone(gas station, mcdonalds drive through and dine in), stay at the Exit to highway. good luck.

Typical highway station and rest place. Mostly trucks taking obligatory breaks. With some patience you can easily get at least to Ljubljana, with some Celje/Maribor or even Austria or Hungary

Great if you're going to Austria (either Innsbruck or Salzburg), many different gas station options to ask around

Great spot if you're going to Munich or South to Austria. Germans stop here to buy the Austrian Highway Vignette so you can easily talk to them

Good if you're going to Munich or Nürnberg. We first tried to get to Regensburg but no luck so eventually we settled on Munich. If you're going to Austria like us, it might be easier to get through Munich and Salzburg than to try and cut across

It seems to be great for Czech and Austria, but actually there are a lot of cars going S1 not A1, highly recommended to make a sign with direction. I waited there almost two hours, but after that I was taken by truck driver going to Slovenia. We managed to get to Brno in his driving time limit.

Good spot but not much cars, been lucky to have someone that went to Austria, let me to my destination on the A35

One driver from austria took me to Graz. I waited for less than 5 minutes. It is a bit tricky for a car to stop, but the red light takes ages to change.

We were lucky to have met a guy from graz (big communist city in Austria) with a big van, where three of us could fit. He even took a slightly different route then he planned to get us to our goal. Apart from that, the village soboth meets at 6pm to empty their garbage, next to the gas station. Loads of people comming over, but they all live around the area, thats why they dont take u nowhere. Loads of bikers drive that road too. The cows are very friendly and curious at that sopt

A lot of traffic, mostly - but not only - cars from Germany, Austria, but also Hungary, Slovakia and Czechia. However! Germans won't take you, so it is better not to waste time with them...

I went north and it was very easy to find a ride that takes you north on the highway, many tourists that go to germany, slowenia or austria

Don't try to go west. No one goes to the west and no one goes to munich. Had to take the S-Bahn to munich. Might be a good spot to the south and especially towards Austria though

That's how the classic hitchhiking spot should look like - cars going slow, there is plenty of space to stop and you are visible from a far. I got there on Wednesday evening and got a ride to Andorf (small town in north Austria) with a driver who was going to Munich eventually.

Very good spot if you are going direction to Czech or Austria. Just showed my sign and the first truck took me to Brno

Hard to find people going to A9 or Czech republic. But we found a guy who took us all the way to Prague. So I guess it was worth the wait :) But maybe consider taking a ride on to the A8 if you want to continue north/East A lot of people going to Munich and Austria though
