Slightly inconvenient spot towards Lavamünd however medium traffic and low speeds guarantee someone to stop within 5-20 minutes, possibility to get a ride to Slovenia

Another nice bus stop towards St. Paul im Lavanttal, decent traffic, loads of locals going there, wait times of 5-10 minutes expected

Towards Graz, decent enough traffic for you to find someone going that direction relatively fast, wait times of 5-20 minutes expected, possibility for long distances

There's a small but good enough side of the road where cars can stop, this way you can catch cars coming from both directions that head for the highway, wait times of 5-15 minutes expected

Towards Trautenfels, great spot, mostly locals but they are able to stop here nicely and this here is really the only place to hitchhike out of Bad Mitterndorf, wait times of 10-25 minutes expected

Towards Trautenfels, everybody speeds and very awkward for cars to stop so not really a viable place, wait times of 60+ minutes around here

Towards Trautenfels, only viable during heavy rain, you'll have odd car using this road that will go that direction though very low traffic and mostly confused locals, but the tunnel does protect from the rain, no good bus stops around Bad Mitterndorf for that, wait times of 50+ minutes expected

Towards Bad Mitterndorf, a bus stop that even though it's downhill and sort of on a corner does get enough visibility for cars coming to stop, mostly locals, wait times of 5-20 minutes expected

Towards Bad Aussee, first kind of a place I did like as hitchhiking spot, good bus stop, okay visibility, decent speeds, loads of locals and tourists tho, would walk here instead of trying anywhere in Bad Goisern, wait times of 15-35 minutes expected here

Pretty good spot, we were 4 people and got taken to the border in like half an hour. Everyone here is going south so its only a matter of time. You can also sleep behind the big fence without much trouble.

Somehow we as a group of 4 got a ride from here to the next rest stop even though it was already night. I think you could get lucky here during the daytime, just make sure you arent standing too close to the road.

Perfect spot, traffic lights to slow the cars down and give them a chance to consider taking you. Was taken almost immediately

Nice place, cars can stop in the bus stop behind you. There is the option to take the highway but also the land road. We had a sign for Graz and got picked up after 20 minutes by local people.

A lot of local people and workers going in the direction of Graz, also good time (4pm). We got dropped off here by a local who usually takes hitchhikers. People were very friendly and curious!

Very good place to go south in the direction of graz. We stood there without a sign for 2 minutes and a guy took us to a gas station halfway to Graz.

Good spot. Lotsss of slow moving traffic going in every direction with room to pull. Just a matter of time. Got a young Austrian couple that took me up to north Austria from an 'austria' sign

Huge rest area, great for Austria, a bit worse but still very good for other countries, real potential for long distances, however I'd recommend here to be earlier in the morning or during the daytime, not so many long distance drivers during the evening, mostly locals going to mcdonalds etc, wait times of 20-60 minutes expected

Not a lot of traffic in the direction of Austria (we were there from 10:30 am to 1pm and maybe around 10 cars every 10 minutes) and actively holding out our sign and asking people for 1 hour. If you ask for the highway A2 a lot more people are willing to take you. But not ideal to go all the way to Vienna in one ride.

A lot of tourists going back to Poland, Slovakia, Czechia and Austria. Lot of space for cars to stop. Also the gas station that is close has very nice staff. They gave me cardboard and a marker to write my sign.

Nice view, friendly people, very expensive coffee and still a shitty spot to go to Slovenia. Not as many cars as expected and lots of lots of people going to Germany (maybe due to the time - end of German summer holiday), prepared to sleep here but got lucky and was picked up by a nice guy on his way to Turkey after 20 minutes or so. But all in all: try this spot if you want to go to Germany or northern Austria, don’t try it for any other direction

As the other review says. I tried to go west (Switzerland), but it didn’t work at all. Most of the cars are going to Munich or further south to Austria. I gave up eventually and got picked up quickly after I changed my sign to Munich

golden gas station for going north (Austria, Slovakia, Czechia, Poland), many cars of various nationalities, after asking around a couple took us all the way to Znojmo (close to Brno, CZ), definitely recommend

I don't know what anyone said, but most of the vehicles are heading specifically to Germany and Austria—very few to Italy, and the ones that do go are packed. I've been here since yesterday evening, but it's been completely useless; I just hope I make it to Padua.

Me and my friend wanted to hitchhike from there to Vienna on a Monday afternoon. Surprisingly, many cars were local and no one wanted to take us further on even if they went to austria. Dont recommend.

The spot is good bot not perfect. Most people stay in Czechia but some also go further to Austria

Most cars are local, going towards Prague. Here and there are some cars going to Austria.

I took the train to weiskirchen and walked to this stop due to its great ratings. And it lived up to it. I was there on a Tuesday around midday and only asked maybe 6 people until I found a person with an Austrian plate (I tried to go to Vienna) and the person was heading to Nürnberg and dropped me off at a gas station before entering the city. There was quite a few people from the Netherlands who also drove to Austria but didn’t have any space left. One person also offered to take me to Würzburg. If I’m in the area I will definitely come back to this spot to cover greater distances.

Not the busiest stop but there is a Starbucks and small restaurant there. Another person tried to get into Nürnberg but struggled a lot since most people who go there don’t stop right before. A lot of people were going towards Munich or to the west of Austria. I found a super sweet older lady who was going to Slovenia and she even dropped me off at the train station in Wels.
