Very good spot. A lot of trafic because of all the shops around, trafic light so the cars have time to see you, space for cars to stop. Waited a short time to get a direct ride to Moncton, I was quite lucky.

Very good spot with a good visibility, low speed and plenty of space to stop. I was surprised by the decent trafic, even on saturday afternoon. Got a short ride Saint Jean Port Joli very quickly.

Good spot, easy to access from city center by taking the ferry + bus 11a + 10min walk. A lot of space for cars to stop + slow speed + okey visibily. Not so much trafic but it was on a saturday morning. Got a short ride to Montmagny the next city.

Waited there 5 min with a "Quebec" sign. A guy stopped quickly to bring me to a better spot at the exit of the city. Not a lot of place for cars to stop.

Good spot to exit Montreal. I went there from the city center by subway + bus + 5 min walk. Okay trafic, a place for the car to stop and cars are going slowly because of the trafic light. Waited an hour with my sign to Québec and got a ride to Trois-Rivières

Waited 30 minutes on the highway with no sign. Enough space for cars to pull over, but the cars are going fast

Waited about an hour and a half next to the sign 🚫pedestrian. Not a great spot I would say, not many cars are going east from that road

Waited only 10 minutes, I started at 8am. Great spot, probably the best one to go east in Thunder bay. Little traffic but all the cars are going east.

A lot of place to stop and a lot of trucker passing there. I had a sign and a trucker picked me up. Hard to reach due to a lack of public transports.

We were walking from the ferry to the 138 to hitch a ride but a nice lady stopped her car to speak to us and coincidentally she had just left her daughter to take the ferry. So she offered us to hop on and join for the ride back to her hometown of Baie-comeau.

Nice spot with room for cars to pull off but very few local traffic not going far or RVs coming back from the national parcs. There is a bathroom in the tourist information center tho.

Took me 45 minutes to pass the border. Customs asked a bunch of questions, but they didn't check my bag. They were concerned if I had adapted gear for the cold. They also asked if I had a place to stay during my time in Canada. Saying I was couchsurfing in Vancouver and didn't have the address yet was enough (Although I had another place with a proper address and proofs that I was expected there.) I also had to show I have enough funds for the length of my stay. Probably easier to hitchhike directly at the border, but I wanted to walk and as border patrol was not the friendliest, I preferred taking my distances. Few cars passed me (On a winter morning, the traffic was more important southbound) when one finally stopped. Two young adults on their way to Cranbrook. They were nice.

If you don't ask people on the ferry because you fell asleep (like me), this is your best shot of getting a ride. This is where the trans canada begins again, the shuttle bus can take you fairly close. Try not to miss it though (like me), cause that will decrease your chances. If you miss all the cars coming off the ferry you'll have to wait til the next one comes. You can stand anywhere in the curve, the shoulder is very wide. Got a ride within 20 minutes.

I started my cross-Canada hitchhike out of this spot. As soon as I stood out on the road with my thumb I got a ride.

shittiest place in all of canada for hitching. it had a bad reputation. almost better to walk down the highway a couple ks until you are on a flatter, straighter section. you will get a ride but it will take a couple days. bring warm clothes

No idea about hitching from here into Canada, though...

Hitching west towards Vancouver. All the traffic going Trans Canada has to stop there at traffic lights, so it's a good spot. Also wide shoulders to pull over. And there's a lot of gas stations and dining places around, you can go there and ask people.

After 15 minutes got a ride to North Pole. Then it got much harder and longer waits - going to Canada.

Hitching south-east to North Pole, Delta Junction, Tok, Valdez, Canada. A lot of traffic, mostly locals, but some go out of Fairbanks. Good place to pull over, cars are slow after traffic lights and can see you.

Quite a neat spot, though I had to wait a bit over an hour, which is longer than Quebec average for me. Maybe beacuse I started on the morning of Canada Day. Easy to get to, $3 bus ride from the centre of Montreal. Great place to pull over, long straight stretch to get noticed from far, as though it was meant for hitching. Not so much traffic though.

I got stuck here for really long (around 3 hours), trying to hitch west to Trans Canada Highway. Empty road, especially in the evening (had luck next morning), most people going from Port Rexton turn to Trinity.

2 of us waited about 45 minutes. Cars are fast, there's no much place to stop, but still after enough time someone will pull over. Whole Trans-Canada traffic goes here.

With a sign for "CANADA", plenty of friendly cars stopped, though most were only going as far as Kingston. After under an hour got a ride to just south of Albany.

If going to Abbotsford Canada, unlikely you'll get a ride over the boarder, but having a sign saying you're Canadian, may help

Stand here with a sign "T.C.H." to go west. Make sure that your driver drops you ON the Trans-Canada Highway (there's a gas station just after Pitts Memorial Hwy joins TCH)

Stood here 1.5 days. Its called "Highway of Tears" because some 15 girls have been gone missing in the last few years while Hitchhiking. Finaly got taken by an American who had no idea. Worst spot in Canada to HH!

I wanted to rich Canada and it seemed to be quite good place to go out of the town. I just had to take the subway 1 until the end and walk 5 minutes. I waited there on hour.

This is very close to Canada's Wonderland. At the gates to the park they throw out insane amounts of food from anyone trying to enter the park gates with their own food. Shameful practice, but possibly a goldmine for dumpster diving? Anyone know? Leave a comment. I will check it out myself in August.
